Some actors use publicists to oversee their social media feeds.
Many individuals, including Christopher Lloyd from “Back to the Future,” admit that their narratives are enriched by involving their family members.
Not William Shatner.
The ‘Star Trek’ legend appears to be completely in control of his thoughts on X, and his unique personality shines through in each post.
This week, Shatner criticized a deep-rooted issue in society that many of his contemporaries have overlooked for a prolonged period – the whitewashing of history following the George Floyd incident. At a time when progressives were trying to sweep the past under the rug, the 94-year-old spoke out against it.
In modern times, traditional television episodes containing inoffensive humor have been suppressed or ignored. Monuments were defaced and removed. Notable authors such as J.K. Rowling have faced harsh criticism for expressing views that are deemed unacceptable.
Even if said opinions are held by the majority.
In recent times, the momentum seems to have slowed down, which is partially shown by the election of President Donald Trump. Additionally, we’re witnessing a resurgence of bawdy humor, causing quite a stir among the media.
Captain Kirk, as portrayed by Shatner, hasn’t let go of the term “wokies” that he coined. Furthermore, this issue holds a personal significance for him.
It’s called Presentism and it was used wreak havoc on history several years ago when statues were torn down, books were banned and things renamed to prove how progressive the world had become. Just listen to my opening monologue on Star Trek TOS on Paramount+. They intentionally… https://t.co/HJhG8PrqFM

I can’t help but agree with him – many A-list celebrities chose to stay silent instead of speaking up against the issue. Even renowned figures like Stephen Colbert chuckled at the removal of several Dr. Seuss books last year in 2021. It’s quite intriguing, isn’t it?
Waking up to current events is no joke, and Shatner understands this more than most. He’s not making a political statement explicitly. In fact, his Twitter bio clearly states “NOT POLITICAL” in capital letters. Common sense is what he often shares on social media platforms.

Captain Shatner also mentioned the case of a library taking away Laura Ingalls Wilder’s name, as they deemed certain aspects in her beloved stories as “troublesome.
Obviously you were not around when the wokies (not to be confused with Wookiees
) coerced the Library Association to change the name of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Literary Award to a generic name because of presentism & their objections on how Native Americans were depicted in… https://t.co/gChoasPFAv

Naturally, a few of his followers pushed back against his commentary, but he didn’t buckle.
Some have pointed out that at present, Paramount+ does not alter Captain Kirk’s famous phrase from the “Star Trek” introductory scene – “to boldly go where no one [emphasis added] has gone before.
In the 1980s, when “Star Trek: The Next Generation” graced our screens, they changed the classic phrase from “where no man has gone before” to “where no one has gone before.” This shift was a part of the evolving narrative in the later “Trek” series.
X users told Shatner his immortal phrasing remains intact.
