The Winklevoss brothers, heads of Gemini, are investing $4.5 million in Bitcoin for Real Bedford Football Club. They’re teaming up with podcast host Peter McCormack, well-known for “What Bitcoin Did,” who has led Real Bedford’s push towards the Premier League since his appointment in 2021.
Tyler Winklevoss expressed his strong belief in bitcoin, sharing Peter’s view that this cryptocurrency would significantly boost RBFC’s efforts to become a top-tier organization.
Today, Tyler and I are thrilled to share that Winklevoss Capital has invested $4.5 million in Real Bedford. This puts them among the co-owners, joining Peter McCormack, marking a unique milestone – the first football club run on bitcoin. We chose this investment for several reasons:

The investment will be used to finance diverse projects, such as establishing a Bitcoin savings account for future objectives, constructing a new educational facility, launching a football program to cultivate local skills, and providing ongoing assistance for girls’ and young people’s football.
Furthermore, contributing to the club’s struggle fund will help remove financial barriers for children in Bedford to participate in football.
Under McCormack’s guidance, Real Bedford has experienced significant progress, moving up from the 10th to the 9th rank during their first campaign, and actively working towards back-to-back promotions that could bring them to the 8th tier. Sharing a strong conviction in Bitcoin’s future success, this team of three is determined to fuel Real Bedford’s ascent to greater heights.
