As a die-hard Blue Bloods fan for over a decade now, I’ve witnessed the Reagan family grow and evolve through thick and thin. The show has been a constant companion in my living room, providing comfort, excitement, and a touch of realism that only the finest police procedurals can offer.
As we get closer to the final episodes of “Blue Bloods,” which has been running for 14 seasons and almost 300 episodes, the countdown begins. CBS has prepared content related to this long-running drama for the upcoming three weeks, but unfortunately, those hoping for a new episode on November 29 will be disappointed. Although there won’t be any new normal episodes soon, you can anticipate how the story concludes by focusing on the details about its ending that have been released so far.
Why CBS Is Skipping A New Episode Tonight
Instead of continuing the penultimate episode of the final season (even though cast members were hoping for another season), a retrospective special titled “Blue Bloods: Celebrating A Family Legacy” will air on November 29, instead. This special will revisit the series’ lengthy run and include fresh interviews with long-standing stars and frequent guests. As a genuine tribute, it will also delve into the iconic family dinner scenes from the show.
On November 29 at 9 p.m. ET, CBS is broadcasting a heartfelt tribute to a series that won’t be returning for the 2025 TV lineup, but will still be available on Paramount+. However, it’s not a fresh episode; instead, it’s an entire Blue Bloods night with a re-run of “Life Sentence” at 8 p.m. ET and “Without Fear or Favor” at 10 p.m. ET.
If all of this leaves you wanting more, though, here’s what we know for the penultimate episode and series finale.
How To Plan Ahead For The End Of Blue Bloods
Fortunately, November 29 marks the final Friday without a new episode until the series finale in mid-December. The second-to-last episode, titled “Entitlement,” will air first on December 6 at its usual 10 p.m. ET time slot, followed by the closing credits. As per the network’s official description, here’s what to anticipate (with a special guest appearance from talk show host Amanda Kloots of The Talk and Fit For Christmas):
Eddie and Badillo make efforts to aid a man whose residence has been unlawfully occupied by a squatter, who is also Jamie’s confidential source. Simultaneously, Danny and Baez delve into the mystery surrounding a student’s death in her dormitory. Meanwhile, Frank harbors suspicions about the governor’s intentions when he presents a proposal. Lastly, Erin oversteps her bounds by attempting to set Anthony up on a date.
The storyline will transition into the final episode of the series, set to air on December 13 at 10 p.m. ET. Edward James Olmos will make a special appearance in this episode. I must admit, I’m disappointed that Blue Bloods won’t reach its 300th episode, but based on the title “End of Tour,” it seems like the grand finale won’t disappoint. The official synopsis from CBS suggests that this could be a monumental episode.
The Reagan family is in a state of urgency, working tirelessly to prevent chaos in the city. The notorious gangs of New York have joined forces, demanding leniency for their incarcerated comrades and those yet to stand trial.
Kevin Wade, a well-known showrunner, collaborated on writing the final episode with Siobhan Byrne O’Connor, a veteran writer and executive producer on Blue Bloods. Fans who have followed the series for a long time should find it enjoyable. I’m particularly intrigued to see how much resolution will be provided in this last installment, given that Tom Selleck and other cast members have openly discussed the show’s cancellation, and there are rumors that those involved in the production aren’t pleased about Selleck’s comments regarding it.
Regardless of whether it’s good news or bad, you can still get ready for the last two episodes of Blue Bloods, as CBS is broadcasting a special and two repeats tonight, November 29th. Additionally, you have the opportunity to revisit any of your favorite episodes from the fourteen seasons available so far on Paramount’s streaming service.
