WWE’s Bron Breakker Told Me Why It’s ‘A Cool Thing’ Fans Bark At Him In Public, And How Obligated He Feels To Carry On The Steiner Name

After approximately a year on the WWE’s main roster, Bron Breakker has rapidly become one of the most electrifying rising stars within the company, and fans will continue to argue over whether it’s his talents, charm, or connections to the Steiner Brothers that have earned him this status. However, there’s no question that Breakker’s supporters will be passionately cheering him on at future WWE events for many years to come. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Breakker about people barking at him in public and his sense of duty to honor the Steiner name.

Prior to the 2025 Royal Rumble, Breakker had a chat with TopMob. Despite being eliminated by Roman Reigns after 22 minutes, the Intercontinental Champion can maintain his pride high, as the crowd cheered for him throughout his time in the ring. I wondered if this was usual for him even outside the ring, and Breakker affirmed, sharing his thoughts on why this is so exciting:

Indeed, when I visit the town where we are collaborating, it’s fascinating because this is an idea that the fans have created themselves. It’s something that has developed naturally. People often call out to me, asking me to continue the tradition of the Dog Faced Gremlin. So, I added my own touch to it. I made it unique to me. And yes, it’s definitely a cool thing without a doubt.

For those unfamiliar with wrestling lore, “Dog Faced Gremlin” is a nickname given to Rick Steiner, Breakker’s father and a WWE Hall-of-Famer. Wrestling enthusiasts have affectionately barked at Bron Breakker as a tribute to his family’s legacy. As he stated previously, he has embraced this moniker by asking fans in every city where the WWE performs to call out for him using the same canine-inspired cheer.

This homage is in honor of his father, who had a notable encounter with Chucky in WCW, but it’s not the sole instance where Bron Breakker has honored the Steiner lineage. He’s made references to his uncle Scott’s famous “Steiner Math” speech, yet he remains distinctly independent from his family. I was intrigued about whether these tributes were a result of his duties as a legacy wrestler, and here’s what he had to say:

[In response to your question] He explained that the tributes aren’t driven by a sense of obligation as a legacy wrestler, but rather they reflect his personal connection and respect for the Steiner name.

I respond to them with minor touches like my equipment, I retain some classic maneuvers in my collection. I execute them in my unique style, but we manage to maintain the terminology for those items, yet I am deeply concerned about the current state of affairs and my actions. Whenever I get a chance to reference them, I do so because I believe it adds an enjoyable element for the fans and allows me to show respect.

It appears that Bron Breakker is open to associating with his renowned family to please the fans, but primarily, he’s dedicated to carving out his own path in the WWE. This strategy seems to be successful for him, considering he’s currently holding the Intercontinental title. With his recent ring clash with Roman Reigns, it’s not too far-fetched to predict that he’ll soon find himself near the main event title arena.

If things don’t undergo a major transformation over the coming months, it seems he’ll be retaining his championship at WrestleMania 41. The upcoming event in Las Vegas promises to be thrilling with Jey Uso’s shocking victory at the Royal Rumble and Charlotte Flair claiming victory in the women’s match. I’ve given up on trying to guess the exact lineup for the final match card, but boy, am I eager to see what’s next for Bron Breakker and others!
