WWE's Drew McIntyre Was Asked If He'd Be Down To Appear The Highlander Reboot, And I Totally Agree With His Response

As a long-time fan with a soft spot for both wrestling and movies, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of Drew McIntyre gracing the silver screen in the upcoming Highlander movie. With his towering stature, raw talent, and undeniable charisma, he seems like an almost perfect fit for this iconic role.

Currently, the WWE is experiencing a surge of popularity, with many professional wrestlers finding increased opportunities in Hollywood films. For instance, Drew McIntyre recently ventured into movies following Dave Bautista’s casting efforts for “The Killer’s Game,” and he’s already fielding questions from the press about future projects. When asked if he would consider a role in Henry Cavill’s “Highlander” film, McIntyre provided a clear response.

McIntyre openly discussed his feelings towards the upcoming release of “The Killers Game” with media outlets beforehand. When ComicBook.com posed a question about his desire to star in the “Highlander” film, it’s not surprising that one might anticipate the renowned actor’s reaction given the franchise’s popularity in Scottish sci-fi. However, it’s always fascinating to hear him express his sentiments in his unique way, as he recently did:

I’m not claiming it as a certainty, but it seems extremely likely. Let’s wait and observe the outcome. Essentially, the opportunity is there, the goalpost is wide open – will you take advantage of it or not?

Drew McIntyre’s positive reaction! It’s hard to imagine anyone more fitting for the upcoming Highlander film, despite Henry Cavill being the lead actor. I believe that just as Cavill admires McIntyre’s skills with a claymore, he would be equally impressed by McIntyre’s own sword fighting abilities.

Beyond that, standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 275 pounds, he’d certainly be an imposing immortal to face in the movie. And with the fundamental rule of Highlander being “There can be only one,” it seems McIntyre’s theoretical casting would likely be for a minor part.

Drew McIntyre believes he would be ideal for the Highlander film, but there is a valid concern about whether he could dedicate the time to it. Given his status as one of WWE’s leading stars, he will likely attend upcoming events and be involved in significant storylines that fans can watch unfold with their Peacock Premium memberships.

McIntyre’s aspirations to act in Hollywood aren’t shocking, given that numerous WWE superstars have ventured into Hollywood before. It’s an appealing prospect, as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was once Hollywood’s highest-paid actor a couple of years back. While these wrestlers are dedicated and enjoy performing for their pro wrestling fans, I doubt any would object to swapping their weekly 3-4 shows for millions in paychecks and potentially fewer injury risks, depending on the role they land.

On Friday, September 13th, “The Killier’s Game” is scheduled to premiere, bringing together wrestling enthusiasts with the exciting team-up of Dave Bautista and Drew McIntyre in a movie. While I’m hopeful that this collaboration might entice Dave Bautista for a grand comeback to wrestling, I’m uncertain if the WWE has room for any more significant talents than it currently manages.
