X-Men '97 Creator Beau DeMayo Teases 'Truth' About Marvel Firing on OnlyFans

As a seasoned movie buff with over three decades of industry experience under my belt, I must say that I find myself both intrigued and dismayed by the saga surrounding Beau DeMayo and X-Men ’97. In an industry where secrets are as common as popcorn at a premiere, DeMayo’s decision to share his side of the story on OnlyFans is certainly an unexpected twist.

In the realm of entertainment, one might think they’ve witnessed all manner of events, yet occasionally something occurs that sparks curiosity. For Beau DeMayo, the previous creator and executive producer of X-Men ’97, an uncommon method surfaces to share his account about departing from the well-liked animated series. Having been dismissed by Marvel prior to its release on Disney+, DeMayo has opted for a distinctive strategy to reveal the facts, but only those who subscribe to OnlyFans will get to hear it

In a recent post on X, DeMayo wrote, “The only place you’ll hear the whole truth. Thank you for all the love and support,” followed by a link to his OnlyFans page – suggesting that, in order to access DeMayo’s side of the story, you’ll have to pay $9.99 a month. The optics of this are especially interesting considering the allegations leveled against DeMayo regarding why he was fired by Marvel. While OnlyFans isn’t just a hub for adult material, that is primarily what it’s known for, which doesn’t look good when compared to reports that the writer was fired in part for sending inappropriate photos to various members of his staff. When a commenter replied that paying $10 for this access was a bit “wack,” DeMayo responded by saying, “Totally hear you, but there will be a lot of exclusive content coming to this page beyond just this first video. This is just the beginning of a larger project.”

DeMayo’s OnlyFans content was reviewed by the deadline, and transcriptions were provided for the 30-minute video where DeMayo discusses the online rumors about his termination as being part of an organized “defamation effort” or “smear campaign.”

“The false stories circulating about me online are not only untrue and offensive, but they’re part of a calculated smear campaign intended to undermine my reputation. This campaign appears to have been initiated by some crew members on X-Men ’97 and extends up to the upper echelons of Marvel Studios, seemingly with the aim of hiding systemic prejudicial misconduct.”

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m sharing my perspective based on what DeMayo shared: I was let go from Marvel Studios not just for any professional reasons, but because of who I am – being openly gay and Black. The environment at the studio no longer felt safe for me as a Black gay man. I stand by this, and I have the evidence and witnesses to back it up if only you stop pressuring them into denying what they’ve seen or experienced

Marvel Was Initially Vague About Beau DeMayo’s Firing

Initially, Marvel kept quiet about why they fired DeMayo, but last month, they became more open with a statement explaining that he was terminated in March 2024 after an internal investigation due to the seriousness of the findings against him. The studio immediately cut ties with him and he no longer has any connection to Marvel. This statement came following DeMayo’s claim that he was let go because of homophobia, as he had shared a Pride Month fan art depicting himself as Cyclops in a provocative outfit. When DeMayo alleged his dismissal was unfair and discriminatory, more information about the purported reasons for his termination surfaced, leading to his legal representation getting involved

After it became known that DeMayo was accused of sending inappropriate photos to staff, his lawyer countered Marvel and Disney’s claims that he was fired due to misconduct. Bryan Freedman, DeMayo’s attorney, criticized Disney for presenting themselves as a family-oriented company while spreading unfounded and damaging rumors about his client

“With a wealth of Disney knowledge under my belt, the approach remains consistent. It may seem wholesome and family-oriented at first glance, but behind the scenes, there’s an effort to discreetly insert clauses into contracts that suppress truthful information and prevent employees or customers from exercising their fundamental constitutional rights.”

In the end, DeMayo lost his credit for Season 2 in X-Men ’97 following his dismissal due to Disney’s assertion that he frequently breached his separation agreement. However, DeMayo’s legal representative countered Disney’s allegations by stating, “We will provide evidence through specific instances, which we will delve into individually, that Disney follows a consistent and illegal pattern of behavior. Whenever this pattern is questioned or opposed, they respond with gaslighting and shifting the blame onto anyone who truthfully speaks out, using their well-oiled international publicity apparatus.”
