XO, Kitty’s Showrunner Reveals Kitty and Min Ho’s Relationship Is Headed in the Right Direction

Spoilers for XO, Kitty Season 2 lie ahead.

In the TV lineup for 2025, the long-awaited second season of XO, Kitty was released last Thursday, sparking a flurry of fans who can’t help but ship Kitty and Min Ho. Given that some enthusiasts were already invested in the spinoff of To All The Boys I Loved Before, they might now be eager for more updates. Notably, the showrunner of the series has given insights into the future of their relationship, and it appears to be progressing positively.

As the curtain fell on Season 1, Sang Heon Lee’s character, Min Ho, revealed his heartfelt feelings for Anna Cathcart’s character, Kitty, during our flight back from K.I.S.S. semester. Initially, Kitty seemed indifferent to Min Ho’s sudden romantic declaration at the start of Season 2. However, it quickly became evident that their tale wasn’t concluded yet. In a surprising turn of events, Kitty decided to join Min Ho on his brother’s summer tour as the season drew to a close. Now, I find myself thrilled as EP Jessica O’Toole teases what’s next, knowing that this rollercoaster romance isn’t finished spinning yet!

What XO, Kitty’s EP Said About Min Ho and Kitty’s Relationship

In her second term at K.I.S.S., Seoul, our unpredictable protagonist, who barely avoided expulsion, finds herself entangled in multiple love tangles. Surprising emotions towards her new friend Yuri clash with Min Ho’s declaration of feelings. To put it simply, life is complex for the youngest Covey sister. However, amidst all the turmoil, there’s no denying the strong connection between her and Min Ho. During an interview with Deadline, Jessica O’Toole hinted at the character’s future and their developing romance, stating that it would be handled carefully.

In this narrative, I’m careful not to give away any spoilers, but Kitty is embarking on a personal exploration of her emotions towards Yuri and Min Ho, while also grappling with her past involving Dae. It seems everyone is eagerly anticipating the dynamic between Min Ho and the characters, as their storyline follows the popular “enemies to lovers” trope often found in K-dramas. However, what truly stands out is the genuine chemistry between them, making their interactions feel authentic. What I particularly enjoy about this season’s portrayal of their relationship is the depiction of their friendship – Min Ho accepts Kitty as she is, without expecting her to be at the same place he is, and handles their differences in a mature way that allows them to remain friends. This aspect was most enjoyable for me to work on.

Typically, I’d prefer a clear resolution about their relationship by the finale. Instead, fans were once more presented with another suspenseful cliffhanger regarding their future together. However, this time around, I find myself content, all because of the heartwarming friendship that blossomed between Kitty and Min Ho throughout Season 2.

Why I Think Kitty and Min Ho’s Relationship Is Progressing Perfectly

Just like the charming style of “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before,” the series “XO, Kitty” introduces at least three possible love interests for Kitty in Season 2: Dae, Yuri, and Min Ho. What’s more, Kitty has discovered her bisexuality as a result of her feelings towards Yuri. I must admit, I was quite taken aback by how skillfully the writers managed to handle multiple storylines within just eight brief episodes.

I really appreciate the authenticity of the love triangles in Season 2. For example, Kitty doesn’t jump straight into a relationship with Min Ho after his confession of love, which makes sense given that she had just broken up with Dae, Min Ho’s close friend, mere minutes ago. If Kitty had agreed so quickly, it wouldn’t have seemed true to her character.

This season provided Kitty with an opportunity to delve deeper into her sexuality and long-standing emotions towards Yuri, simultaneously nurturing a genuine friendship with Min Ho. Consequently, it seems fitting that Kitty and Yuri don’t end up as a couple in the finale. Instead, Kitty acknowledges her true feelings for Min Ho, receiving guidance from a TATBILB veteran along the way.

Another aspect that strongly convinced me about Min Ho and Kitty’s relationship is that they haven’t shared a kiss yet. Despite the palpable romantic tension between them and numerous chances for a passionate kiss, it could have been effortless to include one. However, their decision to merely embrace instead, shows courage and respect, which I appreciate greatly.

I really enjoy slow-building romances, particularly when they’re about enemies falling in love. So many stories hastily introduce a kiss or relationship, which can make the event less fulfilling and lead to long-term complications. For Min Ho and Kitty, there’s a palpable bond now, and a kiss at this moment could jeopardize all their hard work. With summer ahead and time to explore their feelings further, I’m eagerly anticipating the direction their relationship will take.

I’m eagerly awaiting the news about Season 3 of “XO, Kitty,” as Jessica O’Toole’s recent remarks suggest she’s optimistic about its renewal. In the meantime, you can catch up on the current seasons by subscribing to Netflix and streaming them at your convenience.
