As a gamer with a soft spot for hip-hop and a history of being left hanging by delayed releases (looking at you, GTA VI), I can’t help but feel a bittersweet mix of emotions upon hearing about the latest twist in the VULTURES 2 saga. On one hand, I’m thrilled to finally get my hands on “SLIDE,” a track that’s been generating buzz for months among fans like me. The collaboration between Ye, Ty Dolla $ign, and James Blake is a dream team if ever there was one.
Following the unveiling but non-delivery of “VULTURES 2” on Friday, it appears that Ye and Ty Dolla $ign are compensating for this gap by officially launching their new single titled “SLIDE.”
The song, adored by fans, runs roughly around three minutes and 20 seconds, boasting production work by Wheezy, Fred again.., Apollo Parker, ryderoncrack, London on da Track, and AyoAA. In “SLIDE”, the duo shares insights into their personal relationships, and the track concludes with an unexpected guest appearance from James Blake during the outro, accompanied by Ty.
Originally planned for a March release, the second installment of VULTURES has been postponed indefinitely. However, a release date of August 2 was announced on the YEEZY site this week. Unfortunately, that announcement was retracted soon afterward.
Stream “SLIDE” on YEEZY.
