Years After Leaving Hollywood Like Matthew McConaughey And More, Modern Family’s Ariel Winter Reflects On Her Decision

As a longtime fan who has followed Ariel Winter’s journey since her days as Alex Dunphy on Modern Family, I find her decision to leave LA and move to Nashville not only commendable but inspiring. Having grown up in the public eye, she faced scrutiny that no one should have to endure, especially a child actor. Her move was a brave step towards healing and personal growth, and it’s heartening to see her thriving in a new environment.

Over the years, it’s been quite common for celebrities to depart from Hollywood or New York City. The motives behind this move can be diverse, ranging from seeking privacy or shielding their families. Some might argue that the glare of Hollywood and its nearby areas can be overwhelming. Following in the footsteps of actors like Matthew McConaughey (now residing in Texas), former Modern Family cast member Ariel Winter moved away from LA in 2022, a decision she has recently shared insights on.

A former child star from the “Mr. Peabody & Sherman” series relocated to Nashville, Tennessee a few years back with her long-term partner Luke Benward. In an interview with E! News, the 26-year-old actress explained the significance of her move and it seems she’s content with the decision she made. Here’s what she shared:

I must admit, Los Angeles never seemed to resonate with me, and I felt apprehensive. But then an opportunity came along, and I thought to myself, it’s time for change! I’m in a phase where I want to heal, grow, and transform. It’s broadened my horizons significantly.

Despite boasting top-tier talent and production teams, the intense scrutiny that comes with being in Hollywood often pushes even the most resilient individuals to move on. The actress who starred in “Sophia the First” was no exception, as she faced criticism unrelated to her performance during her time on “Modern Family.” Hence, the shift of environment post-“Modern Family” seemed like a refreshing change for her.

Ariel Winter, known for portraying the intelligent middle child Alex Dunphy in the popular ABC series, was just ten at the time of her casting. Over the eleven years the show ran, viewers watched not only the characters but also their young actors develop and grow up. Regrettably, some fans criticized Winter’s body, a matter she has openly discussed dealing with.

Ariel Winter Reveals What She Took Away From Modern Family, And What She Left Behind

A former cast member of “The Last Movie Star” is not an exception when it comes to facing scrutiny, and this can occur regardless of whether one resides in Hollywood or elsewhere. In fact, numerous actors have opted to relocate, with Matthew McConaughey, Carlos PenaVega, and Alexa PenaVega among them. They chose to depart due to a desire for a change of environment, specifically to raise their children away from Los Angeles and address audition challenges faced by Carlos. Mark Wahlberg also moved his family to Las Vegas in search of a new beginning.

Ariel Winter no longer resides in LA, but she maintains contact with her fellow cast members. In fact, she shared with E! that she has a special bond with Noah Gould, who portrayed Luke, the beloved younger sibling. Ever since Modern Family concluded about four years back, there’s been a fair bit of interaction among the Dunphy-Delgado-Tucker-Pritchett acting crew, and some have even hinted at potential reunion concepts.

It’s possible that if this project becomes a reality, Ariel Winter would be prepared to answer when they call. For now, it seems she’s content living in Nashville with Luke Benward. I’m happy that celebrities aren’t shy about making career moves, especially ones beneficial for them personally.

If you’re interested in watching “Modern Family” and enjoying some family-oriented entertainment, you can easily do that by subscribing to either Hulu or Peacock, both of which offer all the seasons for streaming.
