In contrast to the original series, the world of “Yellowstone” is far from over and thriving instead. Fans are already familiar with “The Madison,” formerly known as “2024,” which offers an intriguing twist featuring Michelle Pfeiffer, New Yorkers struggling in Montana, and no apparent regular appearances by the Dutton family. Additionally, a forthcoming series is planned to follow Rip (Cole Hauser) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) as they strive to create a new life on their own land in Montana. Moreover, Luke Grimes will reportedly embark on his own spin-off adventure.
As per a post by Matthew Belloni on X (formerly Twitter), it’s suggested that an upcoming program, currently unnamed, will revolve around the character Kayce Dutton, who serves as the moral compass of his family. This character is expected to delve into investigative work, turning the series into a procedural drama. The production seems destined for CBS. At the end of the previous season, Kayce was contentedly living on his own ranch with his family; it’s unknown whether the Dutton family’s circumstances have shifted or if Kayce will choose to assist law enforcement.
It seems that Kayce might juggle his life on the ranch with combating crime, as many “Yellowstone” viewers believe he embodies the authentic western cowboy essence. Regardless, the spin-offs and continuations don’t end there.
The Yellowstone world has plenty of prequels and sequels in store
In addition to the upcoming sequels from the “Yellowstone” series set for release at a later time, fans can anticipate another prequel titled “Yellowstone: 1944.” This prequel will delve into the Dutton family’s activities during World War II. Given that the show’s narrative is gradually approaching John Dutton’s birthdate, it’s likely we’ll encounter a young John Dutton in this installment. Similar to other parts of the “Yellowstone” franchise, it will be filmed in Montana.
In addition, an upcoming series will delve into life at the 6666 Ranch, a place familiar to fans of “Yellowstone” as the Texas residence of Jimmy Hurdstram (Jefferson White) following his departure from the Dutton household. Notably, Travis Wheatley (Taylor Sheridan) and Teeter (Jennifer Landon) have also been connected with individuals at this ranch. After the Duttons dismantled their operation and returned it to Thomas Rainwater’s (Gil Birmingham) tribe, Teeter ended up at Wheatley’s Bosque Ranch. The question remains: Is there gold in the Dutton’s hills, or is it just fool’s gold? That answer will be left for viewers to discern.
