Yes, John Wick Chapter 4 Is the End According to Creators

As a cinephile with over three decades of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that John Wick has been a game-changer in the action genre. The franchise, which started with the eponymous film ten years ago, has been an exhilarating ride that’s kept me on the edge of my seat.

Celebrate as we commemorate the 10th anniversary of the groundbreaking film “John Wick,” which revolutionized the action genre and spawned an impressive franchise. Interestingly, it seems that the specific John Wick franchise may have reached its conclusion, as suggested by recent remarks from director Chad Stahelski to The Hollywood Reporter. Stahelski explained, “We’ve found closure, there’s no topping what we did.” In a new interview with MovieWeb, original John Wick producer and co-director David Leitch responds to this development.

It’s intriguing; I’ve never discussed these matters with Chad before. Yet, he’s the one designing and constructing that entire universe – quite his specialty! And while I may not be directly involved, I can certainly appreciate it as a spectator. Here’s an idea: you can discover means to re-engage people. You can uncover common ground or shared events.

This character is extremely popular, and even if it were a zombified John Wick, people would still be interested,” Leitch jokes. “The action that Chad Stahleski would develop would be thrilling, entertaining, and innovative. While I don’t believe they’ll actually create a zombie John Wick, the open-endedness of the universe established by the first film allows us to establish rules as we progress.” He further notes:

I’m really keen to witness more of this. The choreography is fantastic, as you know. It’s like stepping into a seductive, sleek realm that I find captivating. However, they plan to incorporate expansion and other elements, which gives them additional avenues for creativity. So, we’ll have to wait and see. Frankly, I’m in favor of it, but it seems it’s no longer my domain.

Getting the John Wick Band Back Together Is Hard

In a conversation, MovieWeb interviewed Erica Lee, the long-term producer of the John Wick series. In some respects, her sentiments mirrored those expressed earlier. “Working on these films is exhilarating yet challenging, filled with joy and struggle,” she said. “At the heart of it are a small group of dedicated individuals who have been involved in all four movies. Chad directs and produces every film, while Keanu is an essential part of the team. It’s truly extraordinary.” She further explained:

I often find myself yearning for us to reunite as a band, as the shared experiences and the movies we create are incredibly fulfilling and have left an indelible mark on cinema. Though our standards are exceptionally high, I believe there are more tales to be told. The story must be perfect, the situations well thought out, and everything else must align. Between us, Chad and Keanu will undoubtedly pursue other projects, so timing is crucial. Ideally, all pieces should fall into place in a way that makes sense for another movie to come about.

As a cinephile, I can’t contain my excitement! In the midst of it all, the enchanting film “Ballerina” graces our screens on June 6, 2025. But mark your calendars for November 3rd and 6th, 2024, as the legendary John Wick makes a comeback to theaters for two special nights only!
