As a long-time fan who’s spent countless nights with Beetlejuice and his spooky shenanigans, I must say, discovering his parents was quite a shock to the system! While I’ve grown accustomed to Beetlejuice’s wild, unruly nature, meeting his neat-freak mom and hardworking dad felt like a slap in the face with a ghostly sheet.

Hard to fathom, but even a seasoned gamer like me knows that Beetlejuice has folks who brought him into this world. Shockingly, you might have already crossed paths with his parents, though not in one of Tim Burton’s blockbuster films. Instead, the elder ‘Juices made an appearance in an episode of the quirky yet endearing “Beetlejuice: The Animated Series.

In the course of the show, Lydia Deetz (Alyson Court) muses aloud about what Beetlejuice’s (Stephen Ouimette) parents might look like. Instantly, Beej takes Lydia to a different realm, introducing her to Nat Juice (Len Carlson) and Bea Juice (Susan Roman). However, while Beej embodies unrestrained revelry with no regard for decency or the laws of physics, his parents are stark contrasts. His mother is meticulously fastidious about maintaining a clean household – an attribute that couldn’t be more dissimilar to her son who resembles worms and beetles. On the other hand, Beetlejuice’s father appears to be nothing but labor – a stark contrast to his job, which primarily involves associating with Lydia. This family dynamic results in discord, and it is only Lydia who can help resolve it.

The assistance of Lydia plays a crucial role in this as she helps him understand that despite their differences, his family continues to care for him deeply. This emotional connection proves enduring; as a result, Beetlejuice’s parents make appearances in several subsequent episodes, and we are also introduced to Beetlejuice’s brother.

In the movie, viewers have yet to encounter Beetlejuice’s (Michael Keaton) parents, but we get a glimpse into his life as a living person through the repeated chant of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” A sneak peek shows him stealing graves in Italy during a plague outbreak, eventually entering into an unholy matrimony with Delores (Monica Bellucci). She ends up poisoning him for her death cult, which he retaliates against by dismembering her. Given that she seems to control his demise, it’s unlikely they’ll have a joyful reunion in the future.
