Over a prolonged period, tensions have simmered between the stars of Boy Meets World, Danielle Fishel and Maitland Ward, with the latter claiming Fishel exhibited unprofessional on-set behavior towards her and stating that Fishel was resistant to having Ward on set during Girl Meets World. The conflict escalated dramatically on Fishel’s podcast, which she shares with fellow Boy Meets World alumni Rider Strong and Will Friedle, as accusations were exchanged in a lengthy and intense dispute between the actresses.
Maitland Ward became part of the cast for “Boy Meets World” (streamable on Disney+) during Season 6 and has maintained connections with several of her co-stars. She’s openly praised Will Friedle as a strong supporter during her transition into adult film industry. Conversely, Danielle Fishel and Ward have not seen eye to eye, and they recently addressed their differences in an episode of “Pod Meets World”. The conversation turned tense when Fishel directly questioned Ward about her career choice in adult films, with the initial spark ignited by Fishel’s forthright query.
Do you hate us?
Danielle Fishel mentioned that she’s taken note of Maitland Ward’s comments regarding their podcast and the show over time. In response, Ward seemed to counter this by bringing up an instance when Fishel was reportedly aloof towards her during the filming of the spinoff series “Girl Meets World,” which aired from 2014 to 2017.
- Ward: No, I don’t hate you. I think that you hate me because you wouldn’t speak to me on Girl Meets World, and that was hurtful.
- Fishel: I wouldn’t speak to you? I did talk to you.
- Ward: No. No, not really.
Maitland Ward expressed disappointment when Danielle Fishel removed their friendship from Facebook following Ward’s attendance at her 2006 wedding, and she also disregarded a message of congratulations that Ward had sent Fishel on her own wedding and the spinoff. Ward went on to say…
Indeed, it’s not true that we had a conversation beyond a simple “Hi” on the set of Girl Meets World. There are no photos of us together from that set, either. Since you attended my wedding and I consider us friends, I was expecting more interaction than just a casual greeting during our time together on the set of Girl Meets World.
Rider Strong and Will Friedle stepped up to support Danielle Fishel during a conversation about Maitland Ward’s visit to GMW. They explained that since Fishel was always busy working, they could spend more time with Ward, contrasting her situation to Fishel’s. The discussion ensued further as follows:
- Fishel: Yes, I was working. I was definitely working.
- Ward: No, you had an attitude about it, though, because I know you. There was some beef between us, and I didn’t get it. And maybe I picked up the wrong signals, but definitely there was some sort of weirdness there.
- Fishel: And so what did you think it was?
- Ward: I didn’t know at all. I didn’t know if you thought I was trying to come onto the set and take over, not take over but, like, try to steal attention or something. But I didn’t know. I really was very genuinely confused why we wouldn’t be good.
- Fishel: I don’t feel as though I was not good with you, but I definitely didn’t have a relationship with you, like, ‘Oh my gosh, my long-lost friend Maitland!’ I was working.
Danielle Fishel later commented that “Girl Meets World” was a challenging work environment, unlike what they had on “Boy Meets World.” She described it as turbulent and shared her feelings of being excluded and criticized. However, she made it clear that she wasn’t implying any personal issues. Yet, Maitland Ward was hesitant to accept the apology.
It seems you felt unsettled because I was receiving a significant amount of attention while also spending more time alone, potentially drawing focus away from you.
Danielle Fishel found herself disagreeing once more with the adult film star over their podcast, specifically about the remarks she made to the press.
- Fishel: It seems like almost anytime the podcast is in the news, in the press, there’s a quickly followed up TMZ interview with you.
- Ware: Oh yeah, everybody’s interested. Yeah, they always want to know.
- Fishel: How do those happen, by the way?
- Ware: Because they come and get me. They find me on the streets.
- Fishel: Oh my gosh. I don’t know if I’ve ever been found on the street.
- Ware: Are you trying to accuse me of using you? Are you trying to accuse me of something?
- Fishel: No, I’m just wondering, because they’ve never stopped me outside of my house.
- Ware: They’re not stopping me outside of my house.
- Fishel: OK. I don’t know where they’re stopping you. I was just wondering, because it hasn’t happened.
- Ware: It’s an awfully big concern for you right now.
Danielle Fishel suggested in the ongoing discussion that she had attempted to discuss this matter privately, but Maitland Ward preferred to talk about it on a podcast for higher ratings, or as Ward reportedly phrased it, to “boost the numbers.” In response, Ward claimed that she found Fishel’s desire to contact her privately insincere.
It appears they didn’t quite agree on everything, but they managed to listen attentively to one another, and eventually returned to discussing the topic of “Boy Meets World”.
It’s uncertain whether this talk will put an end to the feud between these actresses, or if it will simply add another chapter to the ongoing saga related to “Boy Meets World.
