Actor Jacob Elordi from Hollywood has openly acknowledged that he found Owen Cooper, the breakout star of Adolescence, “overwhelming” during the filming of the new Wuthering Heights movie. Cooper portrays the younger version of Elordi’s character, Heathcliff – the renowned literary hero and tormented antihero from Emily Brontë’s 1847 classic gothic romance novel – in Emerald Fennell’s upcoming film adaptation, where Margot Robbie plays Catherine Earnshaw. It seems that Cooper has left a lasting impression on his co-stars, as Elordi recently expressed his appreciation for Cooper’s acting abilities.
10 News First recently interviewed Joseph Elordi, who gained fame in movies like The Kissing Booth, Saltburn, and Priscilla, about his experience working with Brad Cooper. Interestingly, before landing the role of 13-year-old Jamie Miller in Netflix’s Adolescence, Elordi had no prior acting credits. However, it appears that a lack of previous experience doesn’t always equate to poor learning, as Cooper, his co-star in Wuthering Heights, showered him with compliments, referring to him as an “outstanding actor.” He went on to call Elordi a “rock star,” adding that he is “brilliant” and “intimidating.
In my perspective, playing a significant role in “Wuthering Heights” signified my second major acting gig since my impactful performance in “Adolescence.” This role earned me appreciation from both viewers and critics, particularly after my captivating scenes in Episode 3. When I first encountered Kodi Smit-McPhee, I was impressed by the self-assured demeanor of this young actor, who was just embarking on a promising screen career. I remember asking him, “Are you nervous, mate?” to which he replied nonchalantly, “No,” and I thought, “Alright, neither am I.
Who Else Is in the ‘Wuthering Heights’ Cast?
In the upcoming adaptation of “Wuthering Heights,” newcomer Cooper portrays the younger Heathcliff, while Charlotte Mellington is added to the cast as teenage Cathy, opposite Margot Robbie who assumes the older Cathy role. Some readers of the classic novel have expressed disapproval over the casting of Elordi and Robbie in these lead roles, claiming their modern appearances are unsuitable for a period drama and deviate from the character descriptions given by Brontë in her book.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be witnessing Fennell’s unique interpretation of the timeless ‘Wuthering Heights’ tale. In this version, British actor Shazad Latif breathes life into Edgar Linton, a wealthy nobleman who marries Catherine, but encounters troubles from Heathcliff. Alison Oliver portrays Isabella Linton, Edgar’s sister and a neighbor of the Earnshaws. The role of our reliable confidante, Nelly Dean, is taken by Hong Chau, with Vy Nguyen bringing the younger version of this character to life in Fennell’s adaptation. Mark your calendars for Feb 13, 2026, as we fall back into the romance (or turmoil) on Valentine’s Day!
