You Won’t Believe Who’s Voicing the New Villains in Invincible Season 3

In the third season of “Invincible,” which begins streaming on February 6 on Amazon Prime Video, you’ll find an array of voice actors who have lent their talents to various characters. Some of these voices may be recognizable due to their association with well-known actors, making it challenging to pinpoint the celebrities without seeing their faces. To add to the cast, eight new actors have joined the series, portraying superheroes, villains, and other characters. The narrative in season 3 intensifies as Mark grapples with his multiple roles: a superhero, a Viltrumite, and a typical teenager.

New Voice Cast Includes a ‘Breaking Bad’ Reunion

In the third season of “Invincible,” Mark, often referred to as Invincible, faces fresh challenges unlike those he encountered in the first two seasons. Aaron Paul, recognized by many for his portrayal of Jesse Pinkman in “Breaking Bad,” takes on the role of a villain who can absorb energy called Powerplex. This season also brings Aaron Paul together with one of his former co-stars, Jonathan Banks, who was Mike Ehrmantraut in “Breaking Bad” and its spin-off series, “Better Call Saul.” The creators of “Invincible” have been tight-lipped about Banks’s role, but viewers have speculated that he may be playing Conquest, a formidable warrior from the Viltrumite Empire.

I’m teaming up with Becky Duvall to take down Invincible, a foe we both despise. Duvall is a fresh character, lent her voice by the talented Kate Mara, who’s renowned for her roles as Beth Johanssen in The Martian and Zoe Barnes in House of Cards on Netflix. Tzi Ma, an actor known for his work in films like Rush Hour, The Farewell, and Arrival, gives life to Mr. Liu, the head of a criminal organization called The Order. Simu Liu, who’s also the superhero Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, plays Multi-Paul, an assassin serving under Mr. Liu’s command.

Apart from Simu Liu, there are other newcomers who have portrayed superheroes previously. For instance, Xolo Maridueña transitioned from playing Blue Beetle in the movie with the same title to portraying Fightmaster and Dropkick in ‘Invincible’. You might recognize Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz from the Netflix series ‘Cobra Kai’. Similarly, child actor Christian Convery is joining Season 3 of ‘Invincible’ as Invincible’s younger half-brother, Oliver. Some may know Convery as Gus from the Netflix series ‘Sweet Tooth’, or for his role in ‘Cocaine Bear’. Lastly, veteran voice actor John DiMaggio has joined the cast as The Elephant, a novice villain. DiMaggio’s voice might ring a bell, as he played Bender in ‘Futurama’ and Jake in ‘Adventure Time’.

Voice Actor New Character
Aaron Paul Powerplex
Kate Mara Becky Duvall
The Elephant John DiMaggio
Mr. Liu Tzi Ma
Xolo Maridueña Fightmaster, Dropkick

How Viewers Might Recognize the Main Cast

Over time, the cast of Invincible has expanded significantly with each new season. Many actors from the series have also starred in notable movies and TV shows. For instance, Steven Yeun, who portrays the lead character, Mark Grayson, was previously seen in films like ‘Nope’. In the latest season, we saw Mark undergoing training with Cecil Stedman, director of the Global Defense Agency. Similarly, Walton Goggins, who plays a significant role, has been in movies such as ‘The Hateful Eight’, and last year he portrayed The Ghoul in Prime Video’s ‘Fallout’.

On the extraterrestrial world of Viltrum, the characters Allen the Alien and Nolan Grayson, better known as Omni-Man, are currently incarcerated. Some viewers might recognize Omni-Man’s voice, as it is portrayed by J.K. Simmons, who played the harsh band director in ‘Whiplash’ and J. Jonah Jameson in various Spider-Man films. Similarly, Allen the Alien’s voice may resonate with you too, given that it belongs to Seth Rogen, a series producer known for comedic roles such as in ‘Superbad’. Kregg, a Viltrumite general, reappears in Season 3 and is voiced by Clancy Brown, who recently appeared in the Batman series ‘The Penguin’, but is more widely recognized for his role as Mr. Krabs in ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’.

Season 3 introduces Mark confronting various superpowered characters who have appeared in previous seasons, such as Zachary Quinto’s Robot, Jay Pharoah’s Bulletproof, Mahershala Ali’s Titan, Ben Schwartz’s Shapesmith, Jason Mantzoukas’ Rex Splode, and more. Alongside these challenges, Mark navigates his personal relationships with family and friends, including his mom Debbie Grayson (Sandra Oh), love interest Samantha Eve Wilkins (Gillian Jacobs), best friend William Clockwell (Andrew Rannells), and ex-girlfriend Amber Bennett (Zazie Beetz).
