Since Tom Holland assumed the role of Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War”, he has significantly increased his presence and influence within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The character is well-loved by audiences and consistently ranks as a high-grossing film franchise. Following this, Holland reprised the part five times, while Shameik Moore’s voice was featured as Miles Morales’ Spider-Man in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and its sequel “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”. Furthermore, Hudson Thames lent his voice to Peter Parker for his appearances in the animated series “What If…?”.
Regardless of the substantial amount of Spider-Man content Marvel has churned out in the past ten years, fans continue to crave more. Fortunately, there’s a lot more to anticipate! Although the fourth Spider-Man movie is being made and is scheduled for release in July 2026, fans won’t have to wait that long for another taste of the superhero. Marvel Animation will debut a new animated series titled “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” on Disney+ on January 29, 2025. Here’s the latest information about this upcoming animated show, including episode count, cast and crew details, and what we currently know about its storyline.
How Many Episodes Are There in ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’?
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I’ve noticed that most Marvel Cinematic Universe shows, whether animated or live-action, have typically been limited to nine episodes or fewer. But here’s some exciting news! The animation team has managed to break this record, a feat only achieved by the recent X-Men ’97 show (excluding Loki and What If…? which were multi-season ventures). Get ready to swing into action with Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, as it’s confirmed to span 10 episodes! And

The Cast & Crew
Viewers can feel confident knowing that the newest Marvel series boasts a talented team at its helm. The show is being led by Jeff Trammell, an experienced writer and producer from the acclaimed “Craig of the Creek” series, as headwriter. Additionally, Mel Zwyer, a seasoned Marvel professional, serves as Supervising Director. Furthermore, industry veterans Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt are all Executive Producers on the project.
In the upcoming series, “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” boasts a star-studded lineup. Hudson Thames, known for his role in “What If…?”, will once again lend his voice to our web-slinging hero. Meanwhile, award-winning actor Colman Domingo steps into the shoes of Norman Osborn. Furthermore, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio return to their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin ahead of the live-action series “Daredevil: Born Again”, set to debut on March 4, 2025. Kari Wahlgren has been cast as Aunt May, while Hugh Dancy assumes the role of Doc Ock and Paul F. Tompkins voices the villainous Marvel Comics character, The Wizard.
Additionally, keep an eye out for characters such as Dr. Stephen Strange, Amadeus Cho, Jeanne Foucault, Chameleon, Scorpion, Rhino, Tarantula, Speed Demon, Carmela Black, Unicorn, Tony Stark (also known as Iron Man), Curt Conners, Venom, and White Rabbit. While the casting for these characters has not been announced yet, the showrunners have confirmed their inclusion in the storyline.
The Series Brings Peter Parker Back to School (Again)
Despite only keeping Peter Parker in high school for three out of his 61 years in comics and on screen, filmmakers continue to captivate audiences with their adaptations. While some are weary of the repetition and recasting of the origin story, Spider-Man’s dual role as a student offers numerous opportunities to explore themes about choices and consequences at an age when errors are common — making it a familiar aspect of growing up. It appears that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will also delve into the web-slinger’s formative, educational years.
This series plans to delve back into Peter Parker’s teenage years at Midtown High and his transformation into the beloved superhero we know, but with a unique twist: In this alternate reality, Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) takes on the role of Parker’s mentor rather than Tony Stark from the MCU. This shift promises to set it apart from the usual super-powered teenage tales as Spidey deals with his idol displaying morally ambiguous actions.
Moreover, the teaser for this series hints at an engaging animation style that combines contemporary life with Spider-Man’s comic book origins. It features live-broadcast criminals, youthful sidekicks, and a fresh black and white suit (provided by Oscorp). It appears as though the show won’t connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe narrative, but it remains uncertain if the creators will eventually merge these distinct realities, mirroring their multiverse approach. Nevertheless, viewers can look forward to watching their beloved web-slinging hero in action on television for now.
Stream Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on Disney+ Jan. 29.
