As a passionate follower, I’m thrilled to share that Andreas Briese, a high-ranking executive at YouTube (owned by Google), has been announced as the opening keynote speaker for NATPE Budapest‘s 2025 event in the upcoming month. In his roles as country director for Germany and regional director for Central and Northern Europe, I can’t wait to hear his insights from within this dynamic video platform!
Organizers mentioned that Briese will provide practical tips specifically for the Central and Eastern European (CEE) market, demonstrating ways in which content creators and media businesses can expand their viewer base and generate income through YouTube.
Additionally, they assured “meaningful discussions, innovative presentation styles, and groundbreaking discoveries” from notable figures within the industry.
Over 85 exhibitors and over 350 potential buyers have affirmed their participation at NATPE Budapest. This event is recognized as a venue for deal-making, information exchange, and content exploration. It also serves as a springboard for the upcoming trends in format innovations, scripted series, and international collaborations.
One of the broader discussion sessions planned for the event is titled “Perspective from the Peak: What’s Next for Us?” It is promised that this panel will feature key figures in the industry discussing “how innovation and collaboration are crucial for navigating change and constructing a robust media network within our region.
Each year’s Format conference will feature an examination of emerging popular formats and a seminar titled “Unraveling the secret: Inside Talpa Studios’ worldwide successes,” led by Sebastian van Barneveld, the mastermind behind the global distribution of hit shows like The Voice and Big Brother.
A fresh initiative is titled “Format Futures,” which presents a collection of case studies carefully selected by Realscreen. It delves into the intricacies of “transcreation artistry” and shares valuable strategies for worldwide expansion.
Mary Maddever, holding positions as Executive Vice President at Realscreen and Content Director for NATPE, further announced that the event will feature “bringing the ’30 Minutes With’ format of Realscreen – in-depth discussions with potential buyers – to Budapest.
Among other scheduled discussions are “Shining on a Global Scene,” focusing on emerging formats that are successfully adapting internationally, often originating from small yet innovative creators, and “Making it Happen (Locally),” which explores how local adaptations of global franchises can surpass the originals by offering fresh perspectives and catering to changing audience tastes through creative financing, production methods, and cultural tailoring.
In addition, Budapest will host the debut of NATPE Honors Europe, an award ceremony honoring “pioneering voices and innovative leaders shaping the European media world.” Meanwhile, the much-loved NATPE Boat Party is scheduled as one of the social activities.
Claire Macdonald, the executive director of NATPE, expressed her enthusiasm about presenting a vibrant combination of activities, including programming and events, which aim to honor innovation, showcase local achievements, and cultivate valuable professional relationships within the industry,” said Claire Macdonald.
NATPE Budapest will take place in the Hungarian capital June 23-26.
