Yuki Yagi Hones His Craft for vowels AW25

Under the creative leadership of Yuki Yagi, the brand Vowels draws heavily from historical references. Consistently, Yagi finds inspiration in the New York City-based Research Library, a rich source of information with over 2,000 books and magazines, which significantly impact the design and manufacturing process in Japan.

During the autumn and winter, the label expands on its fresh beginnings by introducing a diverse collection titled “everyday life.” Classic designs are refined and upgraded using Yagi’s techniques, which follow the Japanese learning principle of “Shu Ha Ri” (the stages of learning and mastery).

Everyday life showcases artistry in various forms, featuring items made from materials such as cotton, wool, silk, and mohair. The color scheme is vivid, with a hand-stitched knitted bomber jacket reminiscent of the M-1 design standing out prominently in hues of steel blue, black, and burgundy.

A still life painting inspired by Post-Impressionism is created on a garment composed of a split-front coat, a jacket with a double zipper, and a pair of trousers meant for work.

Enhancing its scholarly-inspired design, Vowels presents a stylish, monochromatic varsity jacket in matte black, embellished with chenille emblems and an assortment of Ivy League-inspired, preppy t-shirts.

Instead of a wool mohair suit being matched with long trench coats, there are several chunky cardigans standing out in vivid colors and lightweight sweaters featuring an all-over heart pattern with holes appear.
