[WARNING: MILD SPOILERS FOR INSOMNIAC’S SPIDER-MAN 2]
Following considerable anticipation, Insomniac Games eventually unveiled the sequel to Spider-Man, titled “Spider-Man 2“. This game features a significant confrontation between two Spider-Men—Peter Parker and Miles Morales—and a villainous Harry Osborn who has transformed into Venom.
The game concludes with Peter Parker giving up his Spider-Man identity to let Miles take over, but it seems Peter still has a role left in the narrative.
Peter’s Future in Spider-Man 3
Yuri Lowenthal, who plays Spider-Man in The Direct’s latest interview, hinted that fans can count on seeing Peter Parker in the upcoming mainline Spidey game. He assured us that Peter will not only appear but will also actively participate, and won’t just be lounging around.
In a bid for greater commitment, Peter momentarily sets aside his Spider-Man identity to devote time to launching his charity, the Emily-May Foundation. Subsequently, he transfers the role to Miles, who requests Peter’s assistance should he ever find himself in need. Graciously, Peter consents.
Some might assume that Peter will simply take a seat during the next game, acting as a spectator for Miles. However, Lowenthal has clarified that Peter will be back in action by the time the third installment arrives. It’s possible that he could serve as a spectator in a potential “Spider-Man: Miles Morales 2” game, if it ever comes to fruition.
What to Expect with Spider-Man 3
In summary, the finale of “Spider-Man 2” lays a lot of groundwork for the concluding chapter of the PlayStation’s Spider-Man series. Not only does it hint at the return of Doctor Octopus (who is aware of Spider-Man’s identity), but it also prepares us for the long-anticipated confrontation between Spidey and his arch-nemesis, the Green Goblin.
There’s uncertainty about whether the Goblin character will be Norman Osborn or Harry once more. Osborn hinted at a substance called the G-Serum, leading some to believe that he may inject it into Harry, causing him to become a Goblin with a penchant for carrying purses and launching pumpkin bombs, or alternatively, he might consume it himself, transforming into the same character.
Well, here’s the deal. After spending some years building my foundation, I was hoping for a quiet life, you know? But with these baddies from my series having a score to settle, it seems like I might need to dust off that Spider-Man suit once more and swing into action to protect New York (or maybe even the world, if you catch my drift; standard Spidey business).

Spider-Man 2 DLC When?
At the moment, Insomniac hasn’t shared any news about the third Spider-Man game or DLC for Spider-Man 2. It seems that they might be focusing on their previously announced Wolverine game, as there has been no new information on its progress so far.
It’s possible that a downloadable content expansion for “Spider-Man 2” is in development, though it hasn’t been officially announced yet. For now, it seems the developers are planning a leisurely pace before they unveil any details.
Spider-Man 2 is now available for PS5 and PC.
