Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and model-choreographer Dhanashree Verma have been officially divorced by the Bombay High Court, following a plea they both filed back in February this year. Meanwhile, it was Chahal’s courtroom attire that grabbed headlines.
On March 20th, I found myself standing before the esteemed gates of the Bombay High Court, heart pounding with anticipation as Yuzvendra Chahal, my idol, walked towards me, a black jacket draped over his shoulders, a cap shielding his head, and a mask guarding his face. Beneath the mask, I could see the familiar glint of determination in his eyes, accentuated by his geeky glasses and denim pants. The sight was truly breathtaking for an ardent fan like me.
Following the final decision, the cricketer was spotted leaving the court without his jacket. He carried it in hand and wore a bold black t-shirt that read “Be your own sugar daddy.” Shortly after Chahal’s appearance, the video quickly spread online, garnering reactions from various users.

Multiple individuals were taken aback to see the cricketer donning a shirt carrying that particular message, and some playfully clarified the term ‘sugar daddy.’ It seems that Chahal was advocating for self-reliance in financial matters.
In a romantic wedding in 2020, Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma tied the knot amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. However, their relationship didn’t last long, and they began to live apart shortly after. It was revealed during court hearings that they had been living separately since June 2022.
Given that Chahal has several commitments for the upcoming IPL Season starting on March 22, 2025, the Bombay High Court urged the Bandra Family Court to expedite their divorce proceedings. As a result, Dhanashree and Yuzvendra were officially divorced on March 20, 2025.
As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that Chahal’s legal representative officially confirmed the divorce! Stepping out of court, he declared, “The marriage has been terminated, it’s over.” However, when queried about alimony, his lawyer kept mum, leaving us fans speculating.
Meanwhile, the family has chosen to forego the waiting period, and the Indian cricketer is now required to compensate Dhanashree with an amount of approximately Rs 4.75 crores as alimony.
Or simply:
The cooling-off period was skipped by the family, and the Indian cricketer must pay Dhanashree around Rs 4.75 crores in alimony.
