Zach Bryan Apologizes for Saying He Prefers Kanye “Ye” West Over Taylor Swift: “Taylor Has Been a Force of Nature”

As a long-time music enthusiast who has seen both highs and lows in the lives of our favorite artists, I can’t help but feel empathy for Zach Bryan in this situation. It’s clear that he’s going through some tough times personally, and his words were misinterpreted due to the lack of nuance that social media often demands.

Zach Bryan has some regrets.

On Tuesday, the artist expressed his preference for Kanye “Ye” West over Taylor Swift on X (previously Twitter). Since then, he has shut down his account on that platform and posted a heartfelt apology along with some of Taylor Swift’s songs on his Instagram Stories.

“Just want to clarify, I wasn’t attacking Taylor the other night. I was inebriated and made an unfortunate comparison between two albums. It was a musical discussion gone wrong. I admire her music, and I hope you understand that I make mistakes on social media like anyone else. I’d love the opportunity to explain myself to her someday. Twitter seems to get me into trouble frequently, so maybe it’s best if I stay away from it. I apologize to any Taylor fans I may have upset or disappointed. I appreciate you all and I’m doing my best!

In his second update, the artist openly acknowledged experiencing difficulties in his personal life and admitted to unintentionally expressing himself in a blunt manner towards Taylor. He further clarified, ” Frankly, my comments appeared insensitive and uncaring towards Taylor.” He emphasized his immense respect for her as a musician, stating, “As a fan, the last thing I wish is for people to perceive me as disregarding or underappreciating her musical talent.” Finally, he expressed his affection and hoped for understanding from his followers.

After that incident, Bryan revealed something more. He mentioned that Taylor isn’t trying to conceal anything; rather, she’s been an incredible, powerful figure throughout our lives, which he respects deeply. He also expressed his intention to listen to her song “Castles Crumbling” and emphasized that people should never perceive him as harboring ill-will or cruelty towards Taylor Swift.

He ended his messages by stating that this year has placed an extraordinary burden on him, personally, which others are unaware of. He’s been struggling to manage and juggle numerous responsibilities all at once.

He announced that he’s going to pause from posting unnecessary tweets, complete his tour, and find a way to recharge amidst everything. He feels incredibly grateful every day and cherishes this feeling deeply. He doesn’t want to take it for granted, and it has been extremely significant to him. He felt the need to share this with everyone, and he’ll see you all at Bourbon and Beyond, an upcoming festival.

This week, Bryan and Swift’s songs are ranked among the top 10 on Billboard’s 200 albums chart. The Tortured Poets Department by Bryan currently holds the fifth position, while his album The Great American Bar Scene is positioned two spots lower at number seven. On the other hand, West’s latest album, Vultures 2, has fallen off the Billboard 200 chart entirely.
