Unfortunately, their brother Munawar passed away prematurely following a dog attack, while another sibling, Bilquis, died before Hussain’s birth. Zakir Hussain wed Antonia Minnecola, a renowned Kathak dancer and instructor. Together, they have two children – Anisa Qureshi, an accomplished filmmaker, and Isabella Qureshi. Discussing Hussain’s accomplishments, the Prime Minister went on to say, “He not only made the tabla famous worldwide but also enchanted millions with his unique rhythm. By skillfully merging traditional Indian classical music with global tunes, he emerged as a symbol of cultural harmony.
