Zeenat Aman reveals doing THIS bizarre move to make Raj Kapoor cast her in Satyam Shivam Sundaram: ‘Stuck tissue paper onto my face…’

As a dedicated follower of Zeenat Aman’s Instagram account, I am continually captivated by her insightful reflections and captivating stories from her illustrious career. The recent account of how she landed the iconic role of Rupa in Raj Kapoor’s Satyam Shivam Sundaram is an enchanting tale that showcases her resilience, creativity, and determination.

On Instagram, the esteemed actress Zeenat Aman often delves into her past and shares captivating tales from it. Lately, she recounted an enthralling tale about securing the legendary part of Rupa in Raj Kapoor’s Satyam Shivam Sundaram. In addition, she pondered over the time she spent preparing beforehand for their meeting and the effort to make her scar appear genuine by attaching tissue paper on her face.

In a post on Instagram, Zeenat pondered over the approaching centennial birthday of the iconic Raj Kapoor, which falls in December 2024. She revealed that while she had narrated the tale of him selecting her as Rupa in Satyam Shivam Sundaram on numerous occasions, she was reminiscing about it yet again for her audience.

Zeenat considered this instance as a defining point in her professional journey – a tale that often gets recounted, yet carries unique importance for her personally.

In 1981, during the filming of Vakil Babu, Raj Kapoor was starring in the lead role. Shashi Kapoor and Aman were paired as each other’s romantic interests. During downtime between shots, when the crew prepared for the next scenes, there were frequent idle moments on set where the cast would often interact.

During those short pauses, Raj Kapoor passionately expressed his idea for an upcoming movie – it centers around a character who becomes smitten by a woman’s voice yet finds it challenging to accept her physical appearance.

Despite his enthusiastic discussions on the project, he never once mentioned involving Zeenat, a fact that gradually became bothersome for her.

Considering the circumstances, she thought that perhaps her contemporary style, which included outfits such as miniskirts and boots, may have been why he didn’t give her a second look. Feeling undervalued, she chose to take matters into her own hands and handle the situation independently.

The article went on to say, “It’s common knowledge that Rajji frequently spent his leisure hours at ‘The Cottage’, located within his vast R.K. Studio compound. This is where he would conduct meetings or organize small gatherings, often taking a spot on a clean mat spread on the floor to oversee these events.

After finishing work ahead of schedule one day, I decided to prepare myself as Rupa for an additional 30 minutes in my dressing room. I donned a ghagra choli, braided my hair with a parandi, and used glue to attach tissue paper to my face to resemble scars.

Zeenat Aman has made appearances in numerous hit films such as Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Heera Panna, Heeralal Pannalal, Don, Dharam Veer, Panipat, and many others. Now, she is preparing for her comeback to the big screen with Faraz Arif Ansari’s directed movie “Bun Tikki”. This film is financed by renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

In significant parts, the film features Shabana Azmi and Abhay Deol, set to hit theaters later in the year. Before its premiere, the cast assembled for a wrap celebration, which was graced by several famous personalities such as Javed Akhtar and others.
