According to Pavel Durov, the creator of Telegram, there will likely be more use of unconventional gadgets acting as cryptocurrency wallets for their heightened security. This prediction comes at a time when privacy activists are voicing worries about increased surveillance following recent legislation.
During an interview with Tucker Carlson, Durov expressed his worries about governments trying to suppress services such as Telegram. He mentioned that he prefers to stay out of political conflicts and act as a impartial force.
Tucker Carlson added that:
“The world is growing less accommodating, with governments increasingly intolerant of individual privacy. This seems to be the direction we’re heading as technological advancements give authorities greater power.”
Being a part of the community continued to foster his capability to undertake this successful venture for Durov. He disclosed that the FBI proposed a deal where Telegram would install surveillance access points. However, following the hacking and data leak incidents, he completely lost faith in the security of American tech platforms.
In his view, being more vigilant will lead to the creation of advanced communication devices, complete with security-focused hardware, similar to cryptocurrency wallets that safeguard digital assets.
Pavel pointed out that the UAE is an unbiased nation where privacy-conscious businesses can thrive. He emphasized his desire to maintain control over Telegram by avoiding venture capital investments. With sufficient financial resources of his own, he expressed no need for external backers.
