Moonbirds NFTs Shift to Commercial Rights with Yuga Labs

As an analyst with a background in intellectual property law and experience in the NFT market, I view this shift in Moonbirds’ copyright policy as a strategic move aimed at enhancing the value proposition for its owners. By granting exclusive commercial rights to Moonbirds holders, Yuga Labs is likely seeking to create a more robust and sustainable ecosystem around the NFT project.

As a crypto investor and proud owner of a Moonbird NFT, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news. The creators of Moonbirds, Yuga Labs, have announced plans to update their copyright policy, giving us, the owners, exclusive commercial rights for our unique NFTs. Previously, under the CC0 license, anyone could freely use and monetize Moonbird NFT images. But now, with this shift, we’ll have more control over how our NFTs are utilized in commercial spaces. This is a significant development that adds value to our investment and underscores the importance of owning unique digital assets.

In their latest announcement, Moonbirds referred to the shift towards commercial rights for their projects, involving collaborations with Yuga Labs and their initiatives such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunks. This change occurs following Moonbirds’ adoption of a CC0 copyright license in 2022 that enabled third parties to use, distribute, and create commercial derivatives from the licensed goods.

The Moonbirds team isn’t only adhering to the copyright guidelines but also re-evaluating the artistic directions. They plan to introduce 3D avatar robots for animations within Yuga Labs’ metaverse, the Otherside, which may become available in the future. The objective of Moonbirds is to incorporate tangible collectibles into the platform, fostering engagement among the community and bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds.
