As a seasoned analyst with over two decades of experience in the tech and finance sectors, I find this latest investment by Pantera Capital into GAMEE, a gaming platform that operates within the Open Network (TON), quite intriguing. Having closely followed the evolution of blockchain technology and its integration into various industries, it’s clear to me that this move signals a growing trend towards mainstream adoption of decentralized technologies.
On the mobile gaming scene, GAMEE, the company responsible for the popular WatBird game, recently secured funding from Pantera Capital. This investment aims to increase their influence within The Open Network.
According to a recent press release on August 21st, the gaming division of Animoca Brands, known as GAMEE, has secured an investment from Pantera Capital – a venture capital company based in California. This investment aims to expand GAMEE’s presence across various blockchain networks.
Through unspecified funding, this investment is believed to aid GAMEE in growing its presence across The Open Network (TON) using WatBird, a Telegram-oriented application. Animoca Brands points out that Pantera Capital’s investment follows a recent infusion of capital from TON Ventures, a venture firm concentrating on backing startups working on the TON platform.
In response to the funding, Bozena Rezab, co-founder of GAMEE, expressed that this investment serves as a “strong endorsement” of their ambition to effortlessly incorporate web3 features into the gaming environments they’ve developed for their community of 90 million gamers.
“With this assistance, we can speed up our efforts to boost community involvement within the Telegram Open Network (TON) ecosystem.”

For Pantera Capital, this investment serves as another strategic commitment to strengthen its backing of the TON network. Back in May, the company announced its most significant investment yet within the network, highlighting its confidence in TON’s potential following the collapse of FTX exchange. Previously, Pantera had chosen to invest in TON due to its extensive use within the Telegram community, as they see it as an ideal platform for introducing cryptocurrency to a broader audience.
Despite not revealing the exact amount, Pantera’s recent investment in GAMEE underscores their persistent dedication to broadening their presence within the blockchain sector. This commitment is emphasized by their purchase of $250 million worth of Solana (SOL), following the acquisition of this asset from the bankrupt FTX exchange’s estate.
