As an analyst with over two decades of experience in the financial industry, I find myself increasingly skeptical when it comes to celebrity-backed crypto projects. The allegations against Taylor Mathis, a sports betting influencer and DraftKings ambassador, are unfortunately not surprising.
Known sports betting influencer and DraftKings representative, Taylor Mathis, is under scrutiny for accusations related to tampering with the cryptocurrency market.
The sports betting influencer is accused of inflating her own token before a rug pull. The accusations center around the $TAYLOR token, a digital asset linked to Mathis, which experienced a price surge followed by a sharp decline — in other words, a rug pull. Mathis agreed to promote $TAYLOR for 2% of the total supply, which amounted to 20 million tokens.
Another day, another instance of a celebrity involving themselves in a cryptocurrency scam
Just three days after publicly stating she would never pull a rug on her own coin, she does just that, taking a paltry 27k

It is said that Mathis encouraged the adoption of the token among her followers, artificially increasing its worth prior to selling off her holdings right before a collapse. Ever since its highest point, the token’s value has dropped drastically by more than 96%.
As a crypto investor, I admitted my lack of understanding about the true objectives of the project, expressing, “I chose not to be part of this,” and further explaining, “I was attempting to make the right decision.
Taylor Mathis’s response
Following the emergence of accusations, Mathis tightened security on her social media platforms and erased mentions about her collaboration with DraftKings. At first, she argued that a rug pull wouldn’t occur without her participation, given her significant ownership of the coin; however, this assertion has since been taken down from her posts.
According to a since-deleted post on X, Mathis additionally claimed that all the profits would be given to a charitable organization specializing in toys.
