In a move that can only be described as the “last grace period” (because who doesn’t love a good dramatic flair?), the Pi Network developers have decided to extend the KYC and Mainnet migration deadline to March 14. Yes, you heard that right—March 14! It’s like they’re throwing a party and forgot to send out the invitations until the day before. 🎉
According to a rather enthusiastic announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter, because rebranding is all the rage), the Pi Network team declared, “the KYC and Mainnet migration deadlines for the Grace Period have been extended one last time to 8:00am UTC on March 14, 2025.” It’s almost as if they’re saying, “We know you’ve had six months to get your act together, but here’s a little more time to procrastinate!”

In a separate blog post that I can only assume was written with a sense of urgency akin to a last-minute term paper, the developers explained why this extension is the “last grace period.” Apparently, they believe that after six months of grace (and multiple extensions), Pioneers should have had enough time to verify their balances and migrate to the Mainnet. Because nothing says “trustworthy network” like a deadline that keeps getting pushed back, right?
“However, given the 6 month Grace Period—along with its multiple extensions that should have given Pioneers plenty of opportunities to verify and receive their Pi on the Mainnet—the end of the Grace Period is inevitable to make sure the network can move on in its new phase without large sums of unverified and unclaimed mobile balances,” read a statement from the Pi Network Team. Sounds like a fancy way of saying, “We’re done babysitting you!”
What is KYC in Pi Network?
KYC (Know Your Customer) verification is essential for maintaining the integrity of the Pi Network. It’s like a bouncer at a club, making sure only the real party-goers get in. This process helps prevent fake or duplicate accounts, ensuring that only actual humans (not your neighbor’s cat) hold and transact Pi. 🐱
It also helps Pi Network comply with regulations and strengthens security, making the ecosystem more trustworthy. Completing KYC allows users to fully access and transfer their Pi on the Mainnet, which officially launched on February 20, 2025. So, if you want to be part of this digital gold rush, you might want to get your KYC done—unless you enjoy the thrill of living dangerously with unclaimed balances!
But beware! The developers have issued a stern warning: failure to complete KYC or mainnet migration within this latest grace period could result in the forfeiture of your mobile balances. That’s right, folks—unless you mined your Pi in the last six months before migration, you might just be waving goodbye to your digital fortune. So, get on it! ⏰
