Over time, various antagonists have donned the Ghostface mask, and in 2022, Jack Quaid, a star from ‘The Boys’, tried his hand at it while portraying Richie in the sequel of ‘Scream’. As for the upcoming ‘Scream 7’, although many characters (some unexpected) are coming back, you might not expect Quaid to be among them. However, if iconic villains like Stu and Roman have managed to make a comeback, could Richie possibly reappear as well? Interestingly enough, Quaid has recently given the most intriguing “non-answer” regarding this question…
As a diehard horror enthusiast, I’m beyond excited about the upcoming sequel in the iconic horror franchise that Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson brought to life. This new installment is shaping up to be a dream come true for fans like me, as it’s not just bringing back our beloved legacy characters, but also finding ingenious ways to resurrect deceased ones!
The mastermind behind this sequel, none other than the legendary Kevin Williamson, has taken the director’s chair and he’s weaving a tale that defies death itself. The script for this movie, penned by Guy Busick, isn’t just reviving our fearsome villains, but also giving a second chance to cherished characters such as Dewey, who will reappear on the silver screen despite his demise in the latest Scream (2022).
Out of various stars potentially joining Scream 7, Quaid holds similar chances as other potential returns. The lead actor from this year’s chilling horror hit, Companion, is currently publicizing his new film, Novocaine. In a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight, he was queried about the resurrected characters in Scream 7 and if we might witness him in the forthcoming slasher sequel…
“Oh my God, I don’t know for sure yet… I don’t know. I will keep my mouth closed on that one.”
The Return of Ghostface Is (Still) Shrouded in Mystery
In the 2022 film “Scream”, Richie Kirsch, played by David Arquette, met a brutal end at the hands of Sam Carpenter, portrayed by Melissa Barrera. Posing as her boyfriend, Quaid’s character later exposed his true identity as one of the masked killers from the past. As one of the new antagonists in this fresh wave of “Scream”, Quaid’s character shares a significant connection with Melissa Barrera’s character. However, since Barrera is not reprising her role for “Scream 7”, it may prove challenging to find a suitable part for the actor in the sequel.
The upcoming movie, “Scream 7,” remains shrouded in mystery. Nevertheless, tantalizing tidbits have been released to keep fans on edge with anticipation for Ghostface’s comeback. The return of Stu and the addition of ’90s favorite Ethan Embry are making “Scream 7” a potential nostalgic horror delight. Of course, there is always the possibility of things going awry, especially since Kevin Williamson’s only previous horror project was a dark comedy that many would rather forget. For now, we can only speculate how Williamson and Busick will seamlessly incorporate the legacy characters into the narrative. Fingers crossed that it meets expectations!
