Formedly Facebook employees created the Aptos blockchain platform, which recently achieved a new milestone by handling the highest volume of daily transactions among all blockchain networks.
On May 25th, Aptos handled an impressive workload of approximately 115.4 million transactions in a day, surpassing Solana’s transaction volume by more than threefold with around 31.7 million transactions.
As a crypto investor, I’m excited to share that on this specific occasion, Aptos broke its own past achievements and surpassed the record for highest transactions per second (tps) among layer-1 blockchains, previously held by Sui Network. At its best, Aptos allowed users to process an impressive 32,000 tps.
The rapid increase in activity can be traced back to Tapos Cat, a novel tap-to-earn game that quickly gained massive popularity among users upon launch. Notably, during its inaugural day on Aptos mainnet, this game generated approximately 10 million dollars’ worth of transactions within the ecosystem.
As a researcher studying this system, I’ve observed that despite a high volume of transactions occurring simultaneously, the fee rates managed to remain low. Surprisingly, the transaction success rate remained positive as well. This favorable outcome can be attributed to its groundbreaking “Aggregator” technology, which seamlessly merges multiple payments into one larger transaction, thereby optimizing the processing efficiency.
