🚨 Ethereum‘s Social Fabric on the Brink of Collapse? 🚨
As the Ethereum community teeters on the edge of chaos, a sinister plot unfolds. A cabal of pressure groups, fueled by the dark forces of suppressed price action, seeks to strangle the very lifeblood of the smart contract network. Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal, a man of unimpeachable integrity and wit, has sounded the alarm.
Speaking on the esteemed CryptoMoon’s Chain Reaction show on X, Nailwal warned of the dangers of anti-L2 rhetoric, a scourge that threatens to shatter the delicate social fabric of Ethereum.
“Everybody understands that if Ethereum doesn’t survive, the layer-2s won’t survive,” Nailwal declared, his words dripping with the gravity of a prophet. “But the Ethereum community should not pressure the developers enough – I should not be able to pressure the developers enough – for price movements and all that, they may end up making a decision that completely breaks the social fabric of Ethereum.”
Nailwal, a man of impeccable taste, lavished praise upon the inimitable Vitalik Buterin, the “DNA” of the Ethereum network, whose leadership has kept the ecosystem cohesive despite the best efforts of the pressure groups.
Nailwal also took the opportunity to enlighten his audience on the distinction between settlement layers and execution layers, a dichotomy that has been lost on the unwashed masses.
According to Nailwal, there are only two settlement layers in all of crypto: Bitcoin and Ethereum. All other networks are mere execution layers, relegated to the status of second-class citizens.
In the future, Nailwal prophesied, every application will have its own blockchain, avoiding the onerous gas fees that plague the Ethereum network. These final transactions will be posted to one of the settlement layers, accruing value to the base layer and promoting the long-term growth of the ecosystem.
But, alas, the critics of Ethereum’s execution layers will not be silenced. They claim that the scaling networks are cannibalizing the base layer, a charge that Nailwal hotly disputes.
Nailwal’s conclusion was unequivocal: no other crypto network is a real threat to Ethereum except the Bitcoin network. And even then, only if it were to adopt advanced scripting options that give it reliable, smart contract functionality like Ethereum.
And so, the Ethereum community teeters on the brink of collapse, threatened by the dark forces of anti-L2 rhetoric and the machinations of the pressure groups. Will they be able to overcome these challenges and emerge stronger than ever? Only time will tell.
