As a researcher who has been closely following the cryptocurrency market for several years now, I must admit that the addition of Peanut the Squirrel (PNUT) to Coinbase’s asset roadmap is nothing short of intriguing. Having witnessed the rise and fall of numerous meme coins in this dynamic market, I can’t help but feel a mix of skepticism and curiosity.
Peanut the Squirrel, the viral meme coin, has been added to Coinbase’s asset roadmap.
It’s now confirmed that PNUT will be considered for addition to Coinbase’s list of assets. If it passes additional assessment and receives approval, we might expect to see it listed on their platform in the future.
As a crypto investor, I’ve been keeping an eye on the latest updates regarding PNUT (PNUT). According to recent data from crypto.news, this digital asset boasts a circulating supply of 100 million tokens and a market capitalization of around $1,324,835,062. Including Coinbase’s roadmap can bring smaller projects into the spotlight, enhancing their visibility and potential market acceptance. Yet, it’s important to note that being listed on the platform isn’t automatic; assets must adhere to certain regulatory and technological criteria to qualify.
PNUT’s viral backstory
Introduced in November, PNUT is a meme cryptocurrency operating on the Solana network, which was inspired by an internet sensation, a squirrel called Peanut.
Mark Longo rescued Peanut from a car crash and chronicled their adventures, along with those of his other pet Fred, on an Instagram account they both shared. Yet, after receiving confidential tips, the New York City Department of Environmental Conservation took custody of the animals away from Longo’s home.
The PNUT token was created to honor Peanut’s memory. Built on the Solana (SOL) blockchain, it originally allowed animal lovers to contribute to animal rescue initiatives, but has quickly become a viral meme coin.
Coinbase has recently joined the meme coin trend with various listings, including MOODENG and MOG.
