Crypto.com Scores Multi-Year Sponsorship Deal with UEFA Champions League

As a seasoned crypto investor and avid sports enthusiast, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about Crypto.com’s decision to back out of their previous UEFA sponsorship deal. However, their recent re-entry into the scene as the official cryptocurrency partner for the UEFA Champions League has left me nothing short of impressed and optimistic.

Following a disappointing sponsorship agreement in 2022, Crypto.com has now established itself as the UEFA Champions League’s preferred cryptocurrency partner, signing a three-year contract that aims to boost visibility for their brand and deliver immersive Web3 experiences to spectators.

Another Sponsorship Deal For Crypto.com

The UEFA Champions League has its first official partner in the realm of cryptocurrency: Crypto.com. For a three-year period spanning from 2024 to 2027, this highly esteemed football championship has officially tied up with Crypto.com as their sponsor. This partnership grants Crypto.com exclusive rights over the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Youth League, and the UEFA Futsal Champions League during this timeframe.

On August 14, a Wednesday, the cryptocurrency company took on the role of a sponsor during the Real Madrid versus Atalanta match, which was held in Warsaw, Poland.

Brand Exposure For Crypto.com

The sponsorship will give Crypto.com access to far-reaching brand exposure through in-game perimeter LED boards, media interview backdrops, and broadcast sponsorship opportunities. Furthermore, Crypto.com will also benefit from opportunities for exclusive on-site activation during all UEFA events.

Steven Kalifowitz, as Crypto.com’s Marketing Chief, recognized the potential for deepening connections with enthusiasts and spectators of these renowned worldwide sports events.

He said,

“Through unique and trailblazing experiences, we’ve established and nurtured the Crypto.com brand and community, setting us apart from others. By linking our brand with passionate sports enthusiasts globally, we’ve successfully expanded our user base to over 100 million. Our goal of making cryptocurrency accessible to all continues to drive us forward.”

Web3 Adoption Through Sports Sponsorships

1. Option: Crypto.com has been actively growing its user base by focusing on sports enthusiasts to increase crypto and Web3 usage worldwide. The recent collaboration with the UEFA Champions League is another example of their strategy to partner with well-known global brands in the sports and entertainment industry, following their successful partnerships like the famous Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and associations with Formula 1, UFC, among others.

Previously, the major player in cryptocurrency decided not to proceed with a partnership valued at $496 million for the UEFA Champions League in 2022, due to legal issues regarding trading permissions in the United Kingdom, France, and Italy.

Unique Web3 Experiences For UEFA Fans

The collaboration with Crypto.com will also help UEFA provide unique experiences to football and futsal fans by creating Web3-powered memorable moments at the UEFA Champions League matches.

Talking about the partnership, Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA marketing director, said,

As an analyst, I am thrilled to announce that this partnership represents a fresh, innovative phase for the UEFA Champions League. Joining forces with Crypto.com, we are eagerly anticipating unexplored possibilities as we embark on an exhilarating new journey for the foremost club football tournament.
