Crypto trading company and market maker, GSR, has made history by being the initial crypto liquidity supplier to secure regulatory approvals from not one but two significant entities: the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
According to a statement made in a press release on January 6th, GSR, a well-known international cryptocurrency trading company and market maker, has been given authorization by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority for its British division to legally conduct crypto asset business operations.
According to GSR, they have earned approval from both the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), making them the first crypto liquidity provider to receive such approvals from these regulatory bodies. This authorization enables GSR to provide over-the-counter and automated trading services for cryptocurrencies within the United Kingdom, through their British branch.
Xin Song, CEO of GSR Group, states that obtaining FCA approval signifies a “notable achievement” in our endeavor to create a more transparent and inclusive global cryptocurrency trading network. He further mentioned that the multiple financial regulator approvals will enable GSR to broaden its services to an international clientele.
Based on its current workforce of over 120 individuals in the U.K., GSR is eager to collaborate with UK policymakers as the nation’s cryptocurrency regulations evolve. This was mentioned in a recent press statement. Moreover, GSR obtained a Major Payment Institution license in April 2024, enabling it to provide spot OTC and market-making services under Singapore’s regulatory framework.
