Degen Chain 2-Day Halt Ends with Scheduled Resynchronisation

As a crypto investor who has recently invested in Degen Chain, I’m deeply concerned about the prolonged network outage that has halted transaction validation since May 12. The last time Degen Chain produced a new block was over 53 hours ago, causing significant disruption to the usage of applications built on this blockchain.

As a blockchain analyst, I’ve noticed an issue with Degen Chain, a layer 3 Ethereum-based blockchain. For more than two days now, starting from 8:15 pm UTC on May 12, it has failed to validate transactions or generate new blocks. Consequently, the network and its associated applications have become inoperable due to this extended outage.

As a researcher studying blockchain technology, I’ve come across a particular solution that processes transactions on a second layer network, referred to as layer-2, with Ethereum’s Base serving as the specific chain for settlement. For data availability functions, this system utilizes the AnyTrust protocol.

Based on the block explorer’s information, Degen Chain last generated a new block on May 12 at 8:15 p.m. UTC. The chain experienced operational issues, causing block creation to halt around 4:15 p.m. ET on Sunday, beginning with block number 15524774. Consequently, there was over seventeen hours of interruption, impeding transaction validation.

According to Conduit’s assessment, the Degen L3 resync is projected to be finished around 6 AM Pacific time. Following this process, they will conduct tests on the chain to ensure that all data impacted by the reorganization has been successfully restored. We regret any inconvenience caused during this downtime. For further details, kindly refer to @conduitxyz’s update.

On May 14, the Degen Chain team announced via a post that they were making efforts, in conjunction with their development partner Conduit – a rollup infrastructure platform, to address the current downtime.

The “custom config change” that Conduit mentioned is responsible for the recent halt in block production for Degen Chain and the gaming network Apex. This alteration in configuration settings resulted in this issue.

As a crypto investor on the Degen Chain, I’m currently experiencing a resynchronization process taking place among the nodes starting from the genesis block – the very first block in the network’s history. Both teams are working closely together with Offchain Labs to ensure a smooth restoration of services and minimize any disruptions for users during this procedure.

As a crypto investor in Degen Chain, I’m excited to hear that the network is set to recover from its recent issues. The team has announced that normal operations should resume by May 15, at 1:00 pm UTC (6:00 AM PST). This means that transactions and smart contracts should once again be processed efficiently. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a smooth recovery!
