The “Own The Doge” DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) recently declared that they have obtained the copyright for the Shiba Inu image used in the famous Doge meme and the logo of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency.
In 2010, Kabosu, a Shiba Inu dog whose name was posted online by owner Sato Atsuko, gained widespread internet fame after she shared a photo of the pup with a puzzled expression. This image quickly became a popular meme known as “Doge.” The success of Doge extended beyond just being a meme – it evolved into a unique digital currency called Dogecoin, which started selling as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on various cryptocurrency platforms.
Additionally, we unveil our fresh new OTD logo. The Digital Mona Lisa, aka Doge, now graces her new frame.

John Monarch and Tridog, the heads of “Own the Doge” initiative, announced that they have come to an agreement with Sato for obtaining the rights to the project’s title. This decision will strengthen copyright matters and pave the way for collaborations with major brands. The team assures that creators are free to produce Doge memes and foster a sense of community, aiming to unite developers and users.
