As a seasoned crypto investor with a knack for spotting promising projects, I find myself quite intrigued by Drift’s Season 2 airdrop announcement. Having navigated through the tumultuous crypto landscape of the past decade, I’ve seen my fair share of airdrops that have either made or broken portfolios.
Drift’s trajectory in 2024 is particularly impressive, with their native token launch and subsequent focus on expanding into various decentralized finance (DeFi) sectors. The integration of real-world assets like Ondo and the addition of stablecoins such as USDe, PayPal USD, and Sky’s USDS, coupled with liquid staking and Drift Earn’s vaults, suggests a robust roadmap for growth.
The FUEL airdrop, intended to drive growth and align incentives within the protocol, could potentially be another feather in Drift’s cap. With a healthy dose of skepticism honed over years of crypto investing, I’ll be keeping a close eye on this development.
In terms of competition, it seems that Jupiter, Solayer, Sanctum, Sonic SVM, and DeBridge are among the contenders in the Solana ecosystem for 2025. If history has taught me anything, it’s to expect the unexpected in the world of crypto airdrops – who knows, maybe we’ll even see an airdrop from “Pudgy Penguins 3: The Airdrop Heist”!
Joke: Of course, always remember that in the crypto world, the only constant is change. So, don’t be surprised if you wake up one day and find your pudgy penguin has been swapped for a flying squirrel – or even worse, a doge!
Drift, the Solana-based on-chain trading platform, plans to offer its Season 2 airdrop in May 2025.
In a recent post on X, the Drift team unveiled details about an upcoming FUEL airdrop. This announcement follows significant milestones achieved by the platform throughout 2024. Drift introduced its native token DRIFT (DRIFT) in May, and the FUEL program, which is a rewards system, was announced by the Drift protocol back in July of 2024.
The software signals the Season 2 distribution of DRIFT, which will positively impact users on our decentralized trading network. DRIFT explains that FUEL tokens will encourage alignment in objectives and stimulate the protocol’s expansion.
One of our main goals for this year involves expanding Drift into a comprehensive platform, or as we like to call it, a “Super Platform”. This expansion will encompass various areas such as loans and investments (borrowing and lending), derivatives trading, prediction markets, automated market making, and wealth management.
In practical applications, the Drift software gained considerable momentum during the process of connecting real-world assets, and the addition of support for Ondo stood out as a remarkable advancement.
The system also incorporated USDe, PayPal’s USD, and Sky’s USDS stablecoins, along with the introduction of liquid staking. Drift Earn has also gained advantages through vaults, as they offer trading and yield strategies that have attracted millions of dollars in total value, locked within the protocol due to their structured products.
2024 saw crypto airdrops regain popularity, as large-scale token distributions led to early adopters receiving substantial rewards.
Over the course of the last year, Hyperliquid, Starknet, and Pudgy Penguins have been among the most significant airdrop providers. Additionally, the Open Network game Notcoin, which offers a tap-to-earn experience, and Jupiter, a DEX protocol on Solana, made a significant impact in the market with their respective airdrops.

In the past year, three notable airdrops were distributed by Hyperliquid, Starknet, and Pudgy Penguins. Furthermore, Notcoin, an Open Network game that lets you earn by tapping, and Jupiter, a DEX protocol on Solana, have both left their mark in the market through their respective airdrops.

Over the span of the previous year, airdrops from Hyperliquid, Starknet, and Pudgy Penguins ranked among the top three. Furthermore, Notcoin, an interactive game on The Open Network that rewards you for tapping, and Jupiter, a DEX protocol on Solana, have both stood out in the market thanks to their respective airdrops.
Generally speaking, people can receive incentives by moving their assets onto secondary (layer-2) networks, interacting with the platform’s functions, and getting involved in the decision-making process of the protocol through governance.
2025 could see some highly anticipated airdrops within the Solana (SOL) crypto community, such as Jupiter’s round 2, Solayer, Sanctum season 2, Sonic SVM, and DeBridge S2. Furthermore, there is excitement building for potential airdrops from projects like BeraChain, Karak Network, Linea, Babylon, and Hyperliquid S2, along with many others.
