Well now, gather ’round, folks! The Ethereum Foundation, bless its heart, is on the hunt for a social media manager. This comes hot on the heels of a ruckus from the good people who use Ethereum, who seem to think the Foundation is about as connected to them as a cat is to a dog. 🐱🐶
This here full-time, remote gig is all about managing the Foundation’s social media presence across platforms like X, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The lucky soul who lands this job will be tasked with shouting from the digital rooftops about all the latest and greatest in the Ethereum ecosystem, and organizing campaigns to get folks involved. Sounds like a hoot, doesn’t it?
Our friend Josh Stark, a long-time member of the Ethereum Foundation, took to X on February 20 to announce this job opening, signaling that they might just be trying to mend some fences with the community. Or at least, that’s what they hope! 🤔
“We’re putting together a team. Come be part of it, as a social media manager at the @ethereumfndn,” Stark wrote, probably with a twinkle in his eye.
Now, don’t go thinking this is a walk in the park! The listing calls for someone with a deep understanding of Ethereum, strong writing skills, and experience managing high-profile accounts with over 10,000 followers. It seems the Foundation is looking for a real whiz at blockchain communication. Good luck finding that needle in a haystack! 🧙♂️
Role targets community outreach
This hiring spree comes amidst a bit of a kerfuffle in the community, especially concerning the Foundation’s recent ETH sales. Just last month, crypto.news reported that the Foundation sold 200 ETH (worth a whopping $672,000) in early 2025, which sent users like @WazzCrypto into a tizzy, claiming these sales are like throwing trust out the window and should be funding developers or staking instead. Can you believe it? 😱
The uproar has only reinforced the notion that the Ethereum Foundation is as out of touch as a clock that’s stopped. But fear not! This new role is aimed at bridging that gap and improving engagement and transparency. Or at least, that’s the plan!
Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, took to X the same day to defend the sales, citing regulatory pressures and the risks of contentious hard forks. He acknowledged the community’s frustration but insisted that the Foundation is focused on long-term sustainability. Sounds like a fancy way of saying, “Trust us, we know what we’re doing!” 🤷♂️
These controversies just go to show that there’s a mighty need for better communication, which is precisely what this social media manager’s role is aiming to tackle. So, if you’ve got the chops, step right up!
