As a long-time fan of Faye Webster, I have to say that her latest single “After The First Kiss” is nothing short of brilliant. The way she weaves her personal experiences into her music is truly captivating, and this song is no exception.
Faye Webster is releasing a new studio single titled “After The First Kiss” as a follow-up to her highly praised album, Underdressed at the Symphony. This single was created in collaboration with Brain Dead founder Kyle Ng and artist Deb Never. It’s worth mentioning that this is Webster’s first standalone single since the release of her celebrated album.
Through powerful melodies supported by recurring, emotionally resonant verses touching upon the subjects of love and introspection, Webster employs “After The First Kiss” as a medium for contemplating her freshly kindled affection.
In the first person as a fan: “Ever since our first kiss, I can’t help but call her my wife. It might seem a bit dramatic, but it’s alright. After that magical moment, I found myself making plans to see her not once, but twice. Even when I close my eyes, I still manage to capture her image.
Approximately a year ago, when Webster and Ng conversed with TopMob, there was a common thread in their responses: “We’re essentially just pals.” Webster enlisted Ng to direct the music video for “After The First Kiss,” where the story revolves around competing LARP (Live Action Role-Play) groups engaging in conflict. Webster is depicted playing her matching green guitar in the middle of the field as leader of one group, while Never leads the opposing team.
