Charles Cascarilla, the CEO and co-founder of Paxos, highly valued Chris Giancarlo’s knowledge in the financial markets. He expressed, “Chris possesses unprecedented expertise and insight into intricate market conditions that will significantly benefit Paxos.”

I, Giancarlo, served as the head of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) from March 2017 to April 2019. Upon my departure from the CFTC, I became actively involved in the fintech and cryptocurrency industries. In this new role, I provided consultation on asset tokenization and distributed ledger technology at Digital Asset. Additionally, I joined BlockFi’s board of directors and offered advisory services to CoinFund.

Paxos, under regulatory investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), announced Giancarlo’s appointment in February 2023. The SEC had signaled a possible lawsuit against Paxos regarding its Binance USD (BUSD) stablecoin, causing the company to cease BUSD production.

With his appointment to Paxos’ board, Giancarlo’s expertise adds significant value in terms of market knowledge during regulatory hurdles, strengthening the company’s influence within the digital asset sector.
