As a seasoned analyst with a background in technology and blockchain, I find the collaboration between LINE and the Kaia DLT Foundation an intriguing development. This move is reminiscent of the tech industry’s constant evolution, where giants like LINE are always looking for ways to stay ahead, much like how a cheetah chases after the gazelle to keep its position at the top of the food chain.
As a researcher, I’m excited to share that I’m part of the team preparing to launch mini-decentralized apps on LINE’s messaging platform. This collaboration is with the Kaia DLT Foundation, a UAE-based organization that champions the Kaia blockchain.
As per a statement made on August 29th, mini decentralized applications (dApps) are set to debut within the scope of the Kaia Wave, a program started by the Kaia Blockchain Technology Foundation to empower Web3 developers.
The Kaia DLT Foundation emerged after a union between two notable blockchain initiatives by Line and South Korean tech behemoth Kakao. This autonomous entity is responsible for supervising the administration and leadership of the Kaia blockchain, which is a layer-1 EVM-compatible network that blends Line’s Finschia blockchain and Kakao’s Klaytn blockchain.
At the same time as its mainnet debut, the Kaia Chain introduced Kaia Wave. This blockchain network has been seamlessly integrated with Kakao’s Kakaotalk and LINE messaging platforms, serving a collective user base that exceeds 250 million people.
Through the Kaia Wave initiative, the Kaia DLT Foundation aims to motivate developers to construct small decentralized applications (dApps) specifically designed for the vast user base in countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia, using these apps within the LINE Messenger. Developers would utilize the Kaia NEXT WEB software development kit to design these mini dApps.
The Foundation is teaming up with LINE NEXT, the Web3 division of LINE Corporation, through their builder’s partnership program.
Via the Kaia Wave initiative, LINE NEXT aims to enhance the efficiency of their Web3 platform for developers while also making it easier and more accessible for users.

LINE is looking to capitalize on the surge of blockchain-integrated app usage within messaging services, following in the footsteps of its rival Telegram. In 2023, Telegram unveiled compatibility for what they termed ‘Telegram Mini Apps,’ and later enabled developers to link these apps with The Open Network blockchain.
The use of play-to-earn games on Telegram, backed by TON blockchain’s newly introduced tokens, has significantly boosted its popularity. Games such as NotCoin (NOT) and Hamster Kombat have attracted a massive following, with millions of people joining in.
Afterward, the messaging platform now offers a small app marketplace, providing an effortless way for around 950 million of its users to explore the Web3 realm.
