Nigerian court denies bail for Binance exec Tigran Gambaryan

As a seasoned researcher with years of experience observing and analyzing legal systems around the world, I find it disheartening to witness such a situation unfold. The case of Tigran Gambrayan, a Binance executive facing health challenges, has raised serious concerns about the Nigerian court’s approach to bail applications based on health grounds.

According to reports, the family of Tigran Gambrayan is now doubtful about the fairness of the system following the Nigerian court’s decision to deny bail for the Binance executive on health grounds. Instead, Judge Emeka Nwite has instructed that the prisoner be transferred to a hospital for medical treatment.

According to reports, Judge Nwite has recommended that the CEO of Binance continue to be held in prison, even though he is experiencing poor health, as this does not grant him the right to leave jail.

Mark Mordi, representing Gambaryan, requested bail so that his client could receive necessary medical attention for a herniated disk, which hindered his ability to walk. During the court proceedings, Gambaryan was seated in a wheelchair.

Gambaryan can depart only when his prolonged presence poses harm to other inmates, and an isolation facility for quarantine is not accessible.

The Gambaryan family finds the decision “entirely expected,” as his wife expressed that it’s unfair and inappropriate to prevent someone like Tigran from accessing necessary medical care, given his condition.

According to a post by CEO Richard Teng on the Binance blog, the team was approached during their stay in Abuja in January for a clandestine payment to resolve issues they were facing. However, Nigerian authorities firmly denied this claim, characterizing it as an attempt to divert focus from Binance’s operations.
