Starting from today, the Ore project, famous for its mining process resembling Bitcoin, has announced a halt to all mining activities. This decision came in response to worsening traffic on the Solana network due to prolonged automated mining since Ore’s inception. The increased mining activity exacerbated existing congestion issues for Solana.
I’ve made the decision to halt all mining operations, starting from now. This step is taken for the benefit of Solana and its Ore holders, and it should help us swiftly progress towards version 2. 🧵

Solana’s infrastructure struggled under the heavy strain of increased activity, particularly the massive mining of new cryptocurrencies. This pressure was compounded by the significant transaction volumes from bots and recently launched meme coins, resulting in network congestion. To address these issues, Solana implemented updates aimed at easing congestion.
According to a post by @HardhatChad on Ore’s Twitter account, they are taking a break to work on upgrading their network and specifically improving the design of version 2 contracts. This pause has resulted in less traffic on the Solana network, providing an opportunity for it to address any congestion problems.
