Over 200 victims in Vietnam duped by crypto mining scam

Approximately 200 people in southern Vietnam have been duped by a cryptocurrency mining scam, collectively losing around VND 4 billion (equivalent to about US$157,300) to a deceitful platform. The authorities have taken four individuals into custody who are linked to the creation of this fraudulent website known as BitMiner, which operated under a Singapore domain.

As reported by authorities, these persons are alleged to have deceived victims into buying fraudulent bitcoin from a website.

41-year-old Tran Minh Quang and three others were apprehended last Saturday during an investigation concerning the suspected misuse of assets in Dong Nai Province, adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City. This group created deceptive ads to persuade people that they ran a genuine company based in Dubai.

They attracted many partners by offering substantial earnings. These partners were given resources and manipulated investment portfolios to mislead further investors. The investors were presented with diverse cryptocurrency mining bundles, each featuring varying speeds such as Red Diamond, Blue Diamond, Gold Diamond (Diamond), Black Diamond, and Green Diamond.
