Ripple Grants $1M to Morgan State for FinTech Research

As a researcher with a background in FinTech and a strong belief in the power of collaboration between academia and industry, I’m thrilled to see Morgan State University receive this significant grant from Ripple. This partnership is not only an exciting development for Morgan, but also for the entire HBCU community as we continue to make strides in the field of FinTech.

The University of Morgan State has been awarded a $1 million grant from Ripple to advance its FinTech research and education initiatives. Over the course of three years, this $1.05 million grant will be utilized to revamp and upgrade the university’s National FinTech Center. This transformation aims to expand the center’s capabilities and prepare students for the dynamic world of FinTech.

Since 2019, Morgan, Ripple, and the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) have partnered to expand the realm of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and cybersecurity at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

As a crypto investor, I’m always on the lookout for promising projects that have a clear mission and vision for the future. Ripple, with its senior director of university partnerships, Lauren Weymouth, is one such project that truly stands out. In her own words, Weymouth emphasizes Ripple’s commitment to fostering technology growth through philanthropy and research.

Due to the significant influx of capital, Morgan’s FinTech Center team is able to explore revolutionary technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrency, with Morgan University being at the forefront of financial innovations.
