To reduce traffic on the Solana network, Hardhat Chad, an anonymous figure behind the Ore project, declared an immediate stop to all mining activities.
Ore, which is a blockchain initiative launched on the Solana platform, is investigating an optimal distribution method by employing a proof-of-work (PoW) token mechanism. The team behind Ore is endeavoring to merge the robust security offered by PoW with Solana’s renowned quick transaction processing abilities.
After being introduced, Ore’s actions have had a substantial impact on network congestion. This congestion has affected transaction scheduling and resulted in a large number of failed transactions, particularly during the meme coin craze on the network.
“Taking a moment to halt now will provide me with essential time for analyzing the data, assembling a team, and ensuring we put our best efforts into creating an improved version (v2),” Chad wrote in his post.
I have decided to pause all mining, effective immediately.
I believe this action to be in the best interests of Solana, Ore holders, and the fastest path forward to v2.

After the price of Ore skyrocketed from around $93 to over $300 due to the news of a halted token supply, it later settled down to around $175, according to CoinGecko’s data.
Currently, Solana’s value is decreasing. In just the last day, it dropped by 3%. Now, it is priced at $133, contributing to a concerning downtrend.
Solana functions with a proof-of-history and proof-of-stake system, enabling it to deliver high transaction volumes at affordable fees. This setup contrasts significantly from Bitcoin‘s power-hungry Proof-of-Work (PoW) mechanism, which was once the inspiration behind Solana but has since been replaced by this more efficient approach.
Moving forward, the Ore team intends to launch an improved variant of their token, offering rewards for keeping your tokens, while Solana works on advancements to boost speed and control traffic jams.
