As a crypto investor and follower of news related to the industry, I find the situation of Tigran Gambaryan deeply concerning. The recent visit by US Congress members Chrissy Houlahan and French Hill to Kuje Prison in Nigeria, where Gambaryan has been detained for over three months, highlights the dire conditions and raises serious questions about the prison’s medical care standards.
Two United States Congressmembers, Chrissy Houlahan and French Hill, recently made a significant visit to Tigran Gambaryan at Kuje Prison in Nigeria. Gambaryan has been imprisoned for more than three months on allegations of money laundering.
On their Wednesday visit, Houlahan and Hill were alarmed to find Gambaryan in a poor state of health. Reports indicate that he has fallen ill with both malaria and double pneumonia, sparking worries over the quality of healthcare provided at the prison.
Yesterday, Representatives French Hill and Houlahan paid a visit to Tigran Gambaryan, who has been imprisoned in a Nigerian facility for over three months. They reported the challenging circumstances they encountered during their meeting with him and are actively campaigning for his freedom.

“Rep. Hill expressed that our embassy has been requested to intervene on behalf of Tigran due to the deplorable prison circumstances, his proven innocence, and his deteriorating health.”
As a concerned crypto investor, I’ve recently learned about the unexpected prison visit of a notable figure in our community, Gambaryan. This development follows closely after a significant event: a joint letter signed by no less than 100 former federal prosecutors, including myself, urging President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken to take action in Gambaryan’s case. We believe that his situation warrants their intervention.
Recently, the Nigerian authorities have dismissed tax evasion accusations against Gambaryan. Nevertheless, he continues to be imprisoned due to persistent money laundering suspicions, for which a bail request has been turned down.
Despite Binance‘s stance that Gambaryan held no significant role in the company’s decision-making processes, they have persisted in engaging with Nigerian authorities to address the legal complications relating to his situation.
