Web3 Gaming Studio Drift Zone Secures Sei Network Grant

As a seasoned analyst with a penchant for blockchain gaming and a soft spot for games that deliver seamless experiences, I find the collaboration between Drift Zone and the Sei network to be an exciting development in the ever-evolving world of Web3 gaming.

The gaming studio Drift Zone has received a $190,000 grant from the Sei network for integrating their system into the blockchain.

As per a declaration made on November 15th, the gaming platform Drift Zone aims to move around half a million active players from its Drift Zone: Arena minigame on Telegram over to the Sui network. Jason Lim, who heads the Global Gaming division at the Sei Foundation, stated that their studio creates crypto games in such a way that they don’t seem like traditional crypto games.

“What Drift Zone is doing just makes sense. […] They’re taking games that already drive massive player engagement across Asia and enhancing the experience with Sei’s technology. By building on Sei, Drift Zone can deliver seamless, high-performance gameplay, allowing players to stay fully immersed without needing to think about the blockchain running in the background. When players can just enjoy the game, adoption follows naturally.”

Drift Zone emphasizes improving the well-liked Gacha system by offering cryptocurrency rewards directly on the blockchain. By combining our studio’s platform with the Sei network, we aim to expand our presence in the lucrative Gacha game market, which generated approximately $4.4 billion in Asia alone last year. Vedran Sisak, CEO of Drift Zone, stated:

Currently, these games retain players effectively, yet they don’t provide any substantial benefits for user engagement. However, we are altering that balance. We’re enhancing the entire structure by incorporating real incentives into mechanics that players are already fond of. Utilizing Sei’s technology, we can deliver this improved experience at the large scale these markets require.

According to the recent update, the development of Drift Zone: Arena is moving swiftly, enabling players to collect their rewards directly into their Sei wallets and validate their accomplishments through blockchain verification. The studio has also debuted a demo for Drift Zone: Origins on the Sei network.

In “The Drift Zone: Origins” game, we’ll leverage Sei network’s fast 380-millisecond block confirmation and handle up to 12,500 transactions per second, aiming for a swiftness similar to web2 games. This will be a unique auto-battler game with collectible cars, seamlessly integrated within the existing ecosystem.
