Data storage firm Arweave, specializing in decentralization, has partnered with two others to send their “Foundational Block” (Genesis Block) on a journey to space.
In collaboration with Iridia and LifeShup, Arweave (AR) has securedly transmitted encrypted data and digital currencies into a space-bound digital wallet, as announced in a press release dated January 15th.
They utilized Iridia’s artificial DNA-based data storage tech and LifeShip’s lunar spacecraft to launch Arweave’s data container towards the moon.
Established in 2017, Arweave aims to offer cost-effective, everlasting storage solutions for the world’s collective wisdom and historical records, starting with its Genesis Block, according to Arweave’s CEO, Sam Williams.
Exploring fun trips to the moon highlights the potential of open, unrestricted networks such as Arweave to foster fresh ideas in data storage, even extending to molecular storage. It’s exciting to witness Iridia and ASI exploring the limits of what can be achieved.
